An original model that helped set the direction of Nike ACG, the Air Magma makes another return this season with a premium leather rendition. The style features a smooth leather construction with a white midsole/black sole. Contrasting details are further seen thanks to blue laces and dark red bits on the tongue and heel. The Air Magma returns in a set of smooth leather colorways for Fall 2011. A change up from the recent strings of suede releases, this new material choice gives the often overlooked Magma a bit of a facelift. Branding is kept to a minimum, with a classic Nike swoosh logo embossed on the outer and traditional tag on the tongue. Contrast stitching, laces and midsoles add some color to each one’s solid upper. A look into all three colors is offered here.

In celebration of their 1st anniversary, Nike Harajuku is releasing this set of limited edition shoes. In addition to the beige, yellow and pink versions, the Nike Air Magma ND will release in two new exclusive, bold colorways of blue and orange. As with the other editions each boot is fastened with starkly contrasting laces and black detailing. The blue and orange versions will release exclusively at Nike Harajuku alongside the rest of the set, in restricted numbers on November 13 and 14.

The Nike Air Magma is back and remains faithful to its original 1981 form. Altered only for comfort, this latest colourway features a light stone-grey colored suede upper, contrasting electric blue laces and black detailing. One of the cornerstones of Nike’s ACG venture into the outdoor world some twenty-plus years ago, the Magma hiking boot gets a new update as it too undergoes the slimming vulcanized AC treatment. Releasing in a colorway similar to the original, the outsole is the most obvious change as it preserves the light brown upper and red laces. Available on the 21st of November at mita.

A focal point of their outdoors releases for Holiday 2009, Nike Sportswear unveils a new set of colorways in the Air Magma model. Conceived in 1978 as a tool to help a group of climbers scale the world’s 2nd highest mountain in K-2, Nike adapted some of its technologies and skills in lightweight and comfortable performance footwear design and re-applied them to create their first ever hiking boot. The Air Magma was created based partly on the notion that “every pound you put on your feet is like putting six pounds on your back”. The original Air Magma featuring a thick cut, oiled and waxed upper with red laces to signify flowing lava from a freshly erupted volcano. Returning some 30 years later and with strong influences from the 20-something Nike ACG division, the Air Magma Rip-Stop now falls under the Nike Sportswear division.
