Texas-based shoe blog Nice Kicks has established itself as a leading source of sneaker news the past few years. Sparingly stepping out in the offline world, they’re most recent tangible mark involves this showing here. Giving us a little preview of their upcoming collaborative venture with New Balance, they’ve put together the Nice Kicks x New Balance 1500. A release has been set for December 16, 2011.

The recent collaborative effort between sport-centric brands UNDFTD and PUMA was a contemporary take on a classic proven to command admiration as well as innovation, and one of many to come. UNDFTD co-owner Eddie Cruz sits down to discuss the progressive relationship with PUMA and how they are simultaneously reappropriating such iconic footwear in the process.

Retailer and media outlet Nice Kicks and Ronnie Fieg come together on a second collaborative ASICS GEL LYTE III. While the original co-branded release featured a brightly colored GEL LYTE III in all red, this time around, Matt Halfhill and the Nice Kicks crew tone things down with a tonal gray affair. The shoes will release on October 1st, 2010 at both Nice Kicks in Austin, Texas and David Z/DavidZ.com. Retail is set at $115 USD.

Nice Kicks preview the follow up to last year’s Gel Lyte III release, this time coming in a more much subtle color choice. Taking on a clean silver/white scheme, the sneakers pair mesh and suede uppers with nicely contrasted white laces and midsoles. Stay tuned for a closer look and further information into the drop, with a tentative date set for October 1st, 2010.

Sid Ashford and team Nice Kicks were on hand at the World Basketball Festival to speak candidly with some Nike and Jordan brand athletes about their obsession with the game. Dwayne Wade, Carmello Anthony, and Christ Paul sat down at the re-fashioned Rucker Playground to talk about what basketball means to them, and the solace offered to them each time they step on the court. Michael Jordan, coach Mike Krzyzewski, and director of USA Basketball Jerry Colangelo were also on hand to speak on the galvanization of team USA, and what it means to represent one’s country on the global stage.

Filmed and directed by Sid Ashford, this video is from Nice Kicks‘ newest video series, entitled “Beyond the Blog”. The debut episode examines the historic sneaker store Walter’s, in downtown Atlanta. First opening shortly after World War II, the store has been a permanent fixed on Decatur Street, staying true to its roots for over 50 years. The video also talks us through the way in which sneaker culture has evolved and been passed on through the generations, as well as detail the Walter’s store dedication to customer service.

Making its way from sneaker blog to retail establishment in just a few short years, Matt Halfhill of Nice Kicks officially opens up his brainchild for business with the launch of the Nice Kicks store. Situated in Austin, Texas, the spot will arguably become a haven for footwear fans and those who have come to love and respect the work of Nice Kicks. The always popular Bun B was on hand to meet and greet the first few to come through the door as well as release a special Bun B x Nice Kicks t-shirt.
