New Balance has become a favorite among sneaker enthusiasts for its minimal yet comfortable styling. Fresh for Spring 2012, the Boston-bred shoemaker will release a mini collection featuring three iconic models, all sporting a Made in the USA build. Manufactured with premium suede, canvas and mesh, the three releasing styles – the M998, M1300 and M991 – will all be available in multiple color variants with “USA” panel tags. Fall 2011 welcomes a host of releases from New Balance and its “Made in USA” collection. Amongst the highlights is this new makeup of the 998, done up in a premium suede, sporting a mostly grey upper along with charcoal and burgundy accents for that perfect balance. Japanese brand NEXISVII apply a workboot theme to their upcoming New Balance release, based on the CM998 model. Evoking references to wheat boots from the likes of Timberland, they include workboot laces and a gumsole. A pre-order will begin on Tuesday, August 17th through tokishirazu with a release slated for early September.

A new in-line version of the New Balance M998 is hitting select accounts as the shoe looks to become a more frequent appearance in New Balance’s lifestyle running range. This new colorway features a suede and synthetic upper with a mesh-toebox and subtle hints of yellow as part of the branding. Available soon at JOURNAL STANDARD.

A shoe that made its contemporary return thanks to its role in the Super Team 33 Suit Pack by New Balance, here are some simpler versions of the CM998. Two pastelle-colored versions feature an all suede upper with some nice technical touches including a chunky heel counter and ABZORB midsole. Available now at mita.

Getting a bit more shine in the last few months, the New Balance M998 sees itself in a nice, basic colorway in this recent release. The shoe features a nice well-rounded profile with a sleek toebox. The shoe’s colorway as mentioned is minimalistic with a series of grays and whites with hits of pebble leather and blue on the heel portion of the midsole. Deserving a mention is the Made in USA status of these shoes as they embody the high-quality production that New Balance has ensured with a small handful of factories across the United States. New Balance has looked to Japanese brand green label relaxing in another collaboration featuring the CM998. The brand has been well-known for its goal of creating products which hope to create a more simple way of life. The well-defined midsole of the CM998 sets the scene for a fuchsia suede upper with subtle black, off-white and gray highlights. Unlike the previous CM1400 collaboration of the past, this CM998 features a design more liberal in its use of colors.

With the creation of the Super Team 33 concept, New Balance’s releases emanating from Super Team 33 has all been conceptually rich, applying very often a literal translation of concepts such as tropical fish, earth elements, fanzines and even luggage. Rotating amongst New Balance’s different regional entities, New Balance Japan masterminds this upcoming release titled the Suit Pack as seen on the M998. The M99X series was originally released back in 1982, exorbitantly priced at $100 USD. From there we saw a progression from the M990 to the M992 eventually making its way onto this interpretation of the M998. The Super Team 33 is often characterized by a higher build quality and increased detailing which encompasses special packaging.
