There have been plenty of reoccurring themes this Fall/Winter 2012 in Milan – contemporary minimalism, ultra-precise tailoring, draped outerwear and more. Although not known for imitation, Neil Barrett took some of these high-fashion motifs to a refreshingly new height in his latest seasonal assortment. The young designer took his personal encyclopedia of fashion design to the drawing board offering a range of impeccably tailored peak label suits, a-line cut outerwear, zip pant cuffs, and a healthy blend of wool and leather. The collection is previewed in advance of Barrett’s forthcoming Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

English designer Neil Barret showcases his pre-collection for Spring/Summer 2012 through this new lookbook. Gaining reputations for his modern, minimalist designs and great tailoring techniques, Barrett rolls out an impressive arrangement of refined and contemporary garments that are often characterized by subtle color blocking, technical fabrics and unique detailing. Numerous seamless shirts with offsetting patterns blend well with slim-fit trousers and tailored shorts, while hybrid jackets and eccentric suits complete the assemblage.

Neil Barrett presents us with this Heavy Knit Sweater for the holiday season. Neil Barrett has expanded to Hong Kong as the brand opens its first store in Landmark, Central. The new 890 sq. ft. space was designed by Zaha Hadid and was based on the idea of Display Landscape, where each single object in the store acts as a piece in a puzzle and completes the cast of each other. Store highlights feature the latest men’s scuba-inspired Fall/Winter 2011 collection that consists of pea coats, sailor striped knitwear and tuxedos in sailor-themed colors. The store is open now and includes not only the latest menswear releases, but the latest womenswear and accessory collections as well.

Neil Barrett and Palladium originally worked in tandem on a high-cut boot that featured within the designer’s Fall/Winter 2010 collection. Once again, the two join forces this time on a more standardized Palladium offering with a signature roll-down cuff. The boot seen here in olive green is comprised of several tonal colored materials with a contrasting white lining seen when the boot is cuffed. For Spring/Summer 2012, designer Neil Barrett presented a collection that mixed the hardness of rock ‘n’ roll with the same sharp tailoring he’s become known for over the years. With a relatively safe color palette that consisted mostly of black, grey, green and camel, many of the pieces within the collection were also transitional. Somehow, trench coats were transformed into leather jacket hybrids as Barrett fused the fabrics together. He also played around with the elements of traditional suiting by incorporating herringbone and houndstooth prints onto blazers, trousers and bomber jackets. The contemporary menswear label and the San Francisco-based swimsuit brand, which was founded in 1958, have worked together on a range of items that includes surf shorts, hoodies, T-shirts, sweatshirts and bags.
