As the premier date for The Avengers draws near, we are given yet another epic action-packed preview titled “Face Off.” In this video clip, the attention is turned towards the two advocates of justice: Iron Man and Thor, but this time they are pitted against each other. It’s brains vs. brawn in this fierce face-off as Iron Man played by Robert Downey Jr., and Thor portrayed by Chris Hemsworth, exchange blows. Adding a comical element to the video clip is the always colorful man behind the suit, Tony Stark. It will be exciting to see how the battle unfolds in the theater as this is one movie that should not be missed.

Following on the heels of yesterday’s official world premier, “Isolated” is the latest TV spot unveiled by Marvel showcasing the characters in the upcoming blockbuster, The Avengers. With a “team spirit” theme behind the moniker ‘Isolated,’ the sneak-peek reveals the torment and difficulties that each individual hero faces in their own right. Banded together, the characters paint a very different and dynamic story — one that we can’t wait to see unfold come the film’s official release in May.

Profiles in History has announced its association with Marvel Entertainment to hold the Captain America: The First Avenger Auction at this year’s C2E2 at McCormick Place in Chicago. The auction consists of over 220 lots including the incredible costumes, props and vehicles from the 2011 film. Among the key items to be sold is the the Captain America hero costume worn in the ultimate incarnation of Captain America, Johann Schmidt’s hero Cube setup costume, Hugo Weaving’s screen-worn Red Skull prosthetic, and the “Decoy” Cosmic Cube. These items as well as other Marvel gems will be available at auction April 14 at McCormick Place.

Set to appear during Super Bowl XLVI, the teaser for Marvel’s The Avengers is but a few seconds of actual footage, yet it will surely whet the appetite of those looking for more details about their favorite superheroes in action. The team-up epic is set to hit theaters in three months, with the who’s who of Marvel legends lending a hand to defeat the villainous Loki. Recent blockbuster Captain America has followed in the footsteps of many movies taking comic book characters to the silver screen. For the movie, Daniel Simon was enlisted to create a series of vehicles in true ’40s style that would be both viable to manufacture and historically accurate. Simon worked with director Joe Johnston to meticulously research accurate engineering that would result in an authentic look for the Marvel universe.

Tokyo retailer FREAK’S STORE joins forces with the legendary Marvel Comics for a limited edition series of T-shirts. The special collaboration will involve five big names from Japan’s creative industry, including Yasumasa Yonehara, Yasushi Fujimoto, Yoshikage Kajiwara, DJ MURO and DJ DARUMA in customizing a set of T-shirts. With five different designs to choose from, fans will be able to pick their favorite characters ranging from Magneto, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and Spider-Man. To make this launch even more exclusive, the T-shirts also comes with a serial number (from 1-50), three cans, one sheet of poster, and a comic book. Unfortunately these are only limited for sale at FREAK’S STORE Shibuya, for ¥9,975 JPY (approximately $130 USD).

When one thinks of expensive auction items, fine art, exotic jewelry and rare editions of storied books would all come to mind long before a comic book. Nonetheless, it was a very successful Heritage Comics & Comic Art Auction when John Romita’s original cover art for Spider-Man #49 sold for a whopping $167,300. Featuring Spider-Man lunging to escape from Kraven the Hunter as the Vulture hits him hard in the face, the art isn’t as iconic as some other covers, but it’s certainly an exciting piece for avid fans of the comic. Romita, who was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2002, has served as Marvel’s art director as well as penned a huge number of superheroes including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Punisher and Wolverine.

The latest superhero film to emerge out of the Marvel franchise will be the story of Captain America. Set during World War II, the story presents the background into how a skinny and ultimately unwanted soldier by the name of Steve Rogers would undergo a radical experiment to help in America’s battle against the Nazis. The film will release in both 2D and 3D formats on July 22.

Seen on the back of this season’s Stussy catalog is what looks to be an interesting project in the works involving Marvel Comics. Despite little details to what exactly the collaboration entails, we eagerly await the development and unveiling. For the time being, we anticipate a stellar mash-up involving the iconic roster of Marvel superheroes with Stussy’s own graphical take.
