For Spring 2011, Converse has teamed up with Finnish label Marimekko to create a line of women’s shoes featuring the Helsinki-based design house’s brightly colored textile prints. Favored by some of history’s most stylish women, including Jackie Kennedy and Carrie Bradshaw, Marimekko has a timeless history that makes perfect sense for a sneaker collaboration with a brand like Converse. In this short film, Marimekko’s design manager Noora Niinikoski explains the story of how the two iconic brands came together on a project that recreates Converse’s classic silhouettes with Marimekko’s signature prints.

Enter Finish design and textile brand Marimekko and their collection of umbrellas. The umbrellas feature some noteworthy patterns including polka dots, stripes and two colors of the Kiku colorway.
