British label Margaret Howell has showcased some polished new looks as part of its 2012 fall/winter preview which reveals items that seem appropriate considering their previous design efforts. Crafting well-tailored outerwear and trousers and adding dashes of color, a wearer of the Margaret Howell label looks like a polished gentleman that might be daring enough to take a swing at you at the bar. With several different lengths and fabrics employed, the line is a diversified achievement.

Simple, understated British label Margaret Howell’s new stylebook is filled with looks that stay true to its aesthetic, with visuals set a bevy of warm, androgynous looks against a cold industrial background. The book shows relatively muted, conservative colors amongst sweaters, sweatshirts, pants and jackets – all pieces that could potentially be worn by men or women. It also throws in socks and gloves with the MHL logo for good measure.

Although we’ve come to associate the name Margaret Howell with clothing, this new venture sees the brand enter the realm of furniture design. Featured above are several pieces from a collaboration effort with UK furniture company ercol as the brand takes inspiration from the 1950s for a set of chairs, tables and accompanying loveseat. The collection of course is now available through Margaret Howell Japan.

British designer Margaret Howell has been utilizing her philosophy of good design being “about living with thoughtful style” to craft elegant menswear since 1972. A huge fan of heritage materials including Harris Tweed and Irish linen, Howell’s collections always display refined, well-tailored and elegant clothing that lack the “stuffy” aesthetic more traditional British lines can lean towards. New for Spring/Summer 2012 comes a collection ripe with lightweight knitwear, easy-to-wear summer blazers, fitted shorts, button-downs in muted pastels and thin, double-breasted trenches ideal for those sporadic warm-weather thunderstorms.
