Japanese pop artist Keiichi Tanaam recently presented a new series of works for Art Hong Kong 2011. Featured were two paintings and a sculpture titled Golden Shangri-la, Buddhist Cross and the Red Bridge and Golden Skeleton. All feature reworkings of his iconic characters and unique aesthetic, while at the same time incorporating icons such as Astroboy and Mickey Mouse. The installation will be on display through May 29, 2011.

Singapore’s :phunk studio in association with Japanese artist Keiichi Tanaami introduce “Eccentric City – Rise and Fall” at the Lasalle College of the Arts. The art of tatebanko is the main focus of the exhibit as :phunk studio and Keiichi Tanaami combine their artistic styles to create a colorful and monotone city out of paper. The exhibition is open to the public until September 19, 2010.

Continuing their long-standing partnership, Japanese pop icon Keiichi Tanaami and UK artist Pete Fowler team up to produce the latest artwork for the cover art of Super Furry Animals’ latest album Dark Days/Light Years. The album officially released stateside on April 21st. Dark Days/Light Years marks the first time both artists have worked on an album cover for the pyschedelic Welsh rockers although Tanaami has done work for the band’s past two albums while Pete Fowler has contributed artwork for six of their past LP’s.

Having spent some time working within Andy Warhol’s NY Factory back in the late 60′s, Japanese pop artist Keiichi Tanaami has experienced a hands-on career in sculpture, painting, animation and film over a 50 year span. Continuing his influential work, Tanaami has opened up two exhibitions showcasing his intricate, Asian infused art style. The shows which opened up in late January will remain open for a couple of months in both Germany and Tokyo, Japan.
