Kanye West UniverseCity Jacket

Posted by: Staff / June 17, 2008 / Also tagged as: , / Comments: 2

The first sighting of this "UniverseCity Jacket" was on the Kanye West Bear on Takashi Murakami's album art for "Graduation" and the "Good Morning" animated music video. Recently a physical version of the jacket was seen worn by Kanye West himself during a performance. The colorway of the jacket differs from that of the animated version, but features the same details in lettering and imagery on the front, sleeves, and back. No word on availability of this item, but our best guess would be that it will be part of the Pastelle collection. Source: Deadstock Don

Kanye West: Flashing Lights (Version 3)

Posted by: Staff / May 30, 2008 / Also tagged as: , / Comments: 0

Let's have small recap here just to see if you're keeping up (yes students there will be a test on this later). Kanye West drops his highly anticipated third album "Graduation" amidst an ingenious giant marketing campaign pitting him against 50 cent. Kanye walks away victorious in the record sales race and his new album is highly praised by critics as a successful mesh of infectious pop, soul full hip hop and a healthy dose of electro. One of the standout tracks on the album is "Flashing Lights". The song combines soft melody with hard electronic kicks and snares as Kanye cryptically raps about the pitfalls of materialism and the trappings of fame. Because this was obviously going to be a surefire single, almost immediately fans began to discuss what they think the video will look like down to the director he may choose. However, when the Spike Jonze directed video was released in all of its lingerie clad, Rita G slow motion glory (thank you Spike) the short clip baffled some fans and was lauded by others as a masterpiece. Version 2 of the video leaked on the internet about a week ago and was much more literal then the first version. The video showed another model obviously deeply intertwined in the night life and the danger and tragedy that can come from it. Just a few days ago, yet another version of the video was leaked on the internet and seems to be frustrating and delighting fans equally. This version seems to have no connection with the other two videos and appears to be a cinematic cross between a horror film and high fashion couture add. As far as storyline goes, it's hard to make rhyme or reason of it but we don't mind watching again and again.

Kanye West: Flashing Lights Video - New Version

Posted by: Staff / May 24, 2008 / Also tagged as: , / Comments: 0

Kanye West's original Flashing Lights video which was co-directed by Spide Jonze along with Kanye himself, could be considered one of Kanye's most controversial music video. In it, Kanye is driven off into the desert by a women who bludgeons West to death for supposedly cheating on his girl and being caught by the paparazzi's "flashing lights". Here is a look at a new video for Flashing Lights which is much less violent but still portrays the essence of "Flashing Lights". In this video, you follow a girl (presumably a model) and her glitz and glamorous lifestyle which ends in nothing but tragedy.

If you weren't fortunate enough to attend the G-Shock 25th Anniversary event in New York last week, you can now catch a glimpse of Kanye West's performance that night. In this video, you can see Kanye perform his hit song "Can't Tell Me Nothing" with half nude girls dancing on the stage. It's a pretty powerful performance so check it. Not really safe for work though.
