Since the antagonist’s initial appearance in Marvel’s 2008 blockbuster film Iron Man, fans have been clamoring for a collectible model of the villainous Iron Monger. Now, Hong Kong-based design studio Hot Toys rolls out a 1/6th-scale model of the iron juggernaut deriving every detail from the film; from each individual metal plate, light-up functions and weapons, to an opening chassis revealing a lifelike sculpt of Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stone, the Iron Monger is sure to be a sell out amongst fans. The 12″ figure is available for pre-order at Sideshow Collectibles for $479.99 when it releases Spring of 2012.

Hong Kong-based toy brand Hot Toys continue on with their Iron Man licensed figures. Set at 1/6th the authentic height, Iron Man’s Mark V costume is the focus of this release. Highly accurate in its reproduction, the super hero includes LED lighting on the eyes and arms, interchangeable extremities and a suitcase. The figure also boasts a stand and nameplate for display.

Sideshow’s team collaborated with Legacy Effects to create this incredible half-scale maquette, which was used to develop the original screen-used costume, capturing the awesome detail of Iron Man’s legendary armor. Each piece is individually painted and finished, each with its own unique quality and detail that is the trademark of a handcrafted Sideshow Collectibles product. Standing approximately 40 inches high, the maquette is crafted of polystone, fiberglass, metal and other materials to best recreate the Iron Man armor as authentically as possible. LED light-up eyes and heart add incredible realism. The Iron Man 1:2 scale figure can now be purchased through Sideshow.

Hong Kong-based toy brand Hot Toys recently kicked off an exhibition in line with the highly anticipated Iron Man 2 movie which released at the conclusion of last month. The exhibition invited a number of regional artists and designers to re-appropriate Hot Toys’ realistically reproduced 1:6 Mark III Iron Man figure. The list of artists and designers include Anthony Mestas, Bernardo Esquivel, Heath Hammond and Mr Jesse Lincoln from Sideshow Collectibles, Japanese designers Peiper and Kaz, Korean painter Lalla and local designers from Hong Kong including Elphonso Lam, Eric So, Kenny Wong, William Tsang and Winson Ma among others. To cap off the exhibition, a 1:1 scale War Machine statue was also incorporated into the exhibition which runs until the end of the week at the Miramar Shopping Mall in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.

Hot Toys presents the 1/4th scale War Machine collectible bust from the Iron Man 2 movie. It is specially produced based on the image of the well-received character War Machine in the movie, which is presented in fine sculpture, highlighting the light-up functions and highly-detailed weapon. Special features include: LED-lighted eyes and heart, shoulder-mounted gatling gun, metallic grey flat colored painting on armor, and specially designed square-shaped stand supporting the bust and featuring the War Machine nameplate and movie logo. A release date is set for the third quarter of 2010.

A new trailer to Iron Man 2 was recently revealed. The movie which is set to release on May 7th features a further look into Iron Man’s repertoire of suits as well as his enemy this time around, Ivan Vanko/Whiplash, played by Mickey Rourke. Arguably one of the most highly anticipated sequels for 2010, Iron Man 2 has unveiled its trailer. Set to hit theaters on May 7th, 2010, the movie picks up with Tony Stark aka Iron Man facing public pressure to divulge the workings of his Iron Man suit despite his reservations the technology will fall into the wrong hands. The movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke, and Samuel L. Jackson with Jon Favreau at the director’s helm.

After over 6 months of development, including re-casting over 90% of the original pieces seen on the Iron Man toy releases of the past, the Iron Man Mark III Battle Damaged Version is the latest licensed figure by Hot Toys. The Battle Damaged aesthetic is a direct inspiration from the movie and is a highly detailed replication complete with fully articulated joints. In a joining of East and West, Japanese animation studio Madhouse and Eagle Award winner Warren Ellis are joining forces with Marvel Comics to create some new anime themed versions of some of Marvel Super Heroes’ most iconic characters which span a four part series. Up to bat are trailers for Iron Man and Wolverine.

Marvel Entertainment Inc., has partnered with renowned Japanese animation studio Madhouse (Paprika, Tokyo Godfathers) and multiple-Eagle Award winner Warren Ellis to create four all new anime versions of classic Marvel Super Heroes. Get an exciting first glimpse of IRON MAN and WOLVERINE, two of the planned four series!

These Marvel Anime TV series are being created as a way of merging the beloved Marvel Super Heroes of western culture with the bold animation tradition of Japan. The resulting product will be four visually groundbreaking anime series featuring popular Super Heroes redesigned and repurposed as emerging from the fabric of Japanese culture. The series is expected to begin appearing on the Animax channel in Japan in spring of 2010.
