After several looks into this season’s footwear offerings from the designer Hussein Chalayan x PUMA Urban Mobility collection, we bring the following editorial that highlights the essence of the brand. Conceived with movement and functionality in mind, the fall/winter range dabbles heavily into a darker color scheme, however not without several concentrated blasts of color and graphics. We continue with a further look into the Hussein Chalayan-headed PUMA Urban Mobility collection with the Urban Glide Lo Leather. The Glide Lo takes on a much more simplistic approach versus the marquee Urban Swift, with the main focus revolving around a soft and luxurious leather. Minimal branding can be seen on the Formstripe with a debossed Hussein Chalayan font logo on the heel. Available via select PUMA retailers this season.

Since the appointment of Hussein Chalayan as the creative lead behind PUMA’s Urban Mobility line, we’ve seen some distinct changes in the diffusion sportswear label. None are as prominent as Chalayan’s masterful execution with the Urban Swift. Taking on some of the sensibilities of the fan-favorite Clyde, the Urban Swift incorporates a distinct element of speed and grace through a 3D series of spikes on the heel. Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan unveils “Airborne,” his latest fragrance created alongside COMME des GARCONS. Named after the designer’s 2007 winter collection, the scent is an ode to his journeys from Cyprus to London, dissecting all the possible smells from the Northern Cypriot topography – from flowers, weeds, vegtables to air, the sea, earth, wood and where possible their burnt and fresh variations. An international launch for “Airborne” is scheduled for July 21 at Dover Street Market in London, with distribution to Hussein Chalayan retailers towards the end of the month.

England-based Turkish designer Hussein Chalayan has been working with PUMA for several seasons now on a capsule collection and has been the German sportswear brand’s creative director since 2008. In this video, Chalayan shares some of his inspiration behind his work for the high-fashion, function-influenced collaborative brand as well as his experience working with PUMA and in the design world in general – citing his dalliances with art, retail architecture and other creative endeavors. The short video is comprised of a single, edited interview with the designer as well as some great shots of upcoming Hussein Chalayan x PUMA footwear, printed knits, jackets and more.

Avant-garde designer Hussein Chalayan is a Turkish-born British fashion designer who designed the Puma “Urban Highlander”, as part of the Puma’s Urban Mobility Collection. Blending together fashion and technology, the shoe features a clean white leather upper and a contrasting black rubber sole. The futuristic shoes are complete with two large velcro straps and a ribbed collar for comfort. Look out for Urban Highlander at select Puma retailers now.

PUMA works up this new interesting silhouette for Summer 2010, designed by its Creative Director and renowned fashion designer Hussein Chalayan. The sneakers carry a signature PUMA feel, although the midsoles are reflective of a New Balance type of style. Either way, they are limited to 10 pairs, exclusively available through colette.

Under the creative direction of Hussein Chalayan, the PUMA Urban Mobility collection embodies the philosophy of “Mobile Life” as it bridges fashion and performance. Following up on the announcement by PUMA for its Urban Mobility 2010 Spring/Summer Collection back in August, we get a peek into two designs from the upcoming line, designed by PUMA Creative Director and celebrated fashion designer Hussein Chalayan. Two high top designs are previewed, each focusing on the innovative technical spirit associated with PUMA’s Urban Mobility program. A release can be expected next season in 2010.

Produced and developed in association with Sergio Rossi and PUMA, the unisex Hybrid Collection from PUMA creative director and fashion designer Hussein Chalayan explores the morphing of genres, a re-occuring theme in Chalayan’s work. Borrowing elements from existing footwear styles, this new lineup offers a fresh interpretation of the classic sneaker. The color palette for the various sneakers include taupe, black, coffee, neutral and white. Fabrics range from suede and calf leather to nylon puffa, with the collection being comprised of five key styles. A release can be expected soon via oki-ni.
