Celebrated Paris-based Japanese composer and sound artist Ryoji Ikeda shows forth his latest — an intricate triple-screened audiovisual installation derived from the CAD data set of Honda’s all-new five-door Civic. Made possible only by close collaboration with Civic development leader Mitsuru Kariya and a team of five architects and computer programmers, data.anatomy [civic] now culminates in an intriguing 12-minute sensory experience set amid a fashionably abandoned post-industrial power station in East Berlin. Characteristically preoccupied with mathematics and science in the realm of art, Ikeda perpetuates using pure data as both audio and visual sources, and extends his work with datamatics in this curious composition marked with elemental deconstruction and spatial abstraction. His work also explores major themes surrounding sound, graphics and dimension, paying particular attention to how these elements may shape or influence human perception.

With much interest surrounding the triumphant return of Honda’s NSX supercar, the Japanese automaker puts together a seven-minute long tribute to both past and present. While the car was in some ways underpowered upon its original release, Honda’s F1 experience was the pinnacle in offering a great driving experience. The video highlights several aspects of the previous model as well as the NSX-R, 24 Heures de Le Mans version, some footage of the new model in the video game GT5, and of course the proposed 2015 NSX. Upon its release, the NSX is rumored to feature a 400 hp and a Sports Hybird SH-AWD powertrain.

Honda unveiled one of its newest creations recently at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show; drawing inspiration from the ‘Motocomp’ by Honda designed in the 1980s. This new Compo Foldable Electric Scooter represents the sensibilities of a lightweight structure while maintaining reminiscence of the city line of Honda cars. Released alongside this item was the Micro Commuter, which features a specific slot for the scooter to fit into. A removable battery pack designed to work with other electrical accessories comes standard with the scooter.

While it may be almost 2012, automobile designs have yet to totally transform into that of futuristic, psychedelic transporters. However, Honda’s latest concept does lead in heading that direction with the Micro Commuter City Car. The three-seater electronic vehicle boasts an undeniably unique aesthetic, while the maximum speed of the compact ride is 37 mph, although quite reasonable considering the commuting purpose of the car. The steering wheel has been replaced by two adjacent joysticks to control the action, as a smartphone application can virtually run various functions and a full battery charge only takes roughly one hour.

Across the pond, Honda UK has reworked its hybrid, the CR-Z for an exclusive release. The somewhat comparable carbon fiber concept, the CR-Z Mugen RR, will not see production, which makes the CR-Z iCF exponentially more relevant. The hybrid makeup is highlighted by a revamped power output of 172 hp, allowing for a 0 to 60 mph time of roughly 6.1 seconds – a full three seconds faster than the CR-Z’s time for a similar sprint.

Honda presents the 2012 Integra, which takes its name from the fact it integrates the ease of use of a scooter with the dynamic performance of a motorcycle. It has a feet-forward riding position, protection from the elements, internal storage, and the option of an automatic transmission in the shape of the second generation of Honda’s innovative Dual Clutch Transmission; at the same time it offers stability and handling not found on a scooter. The new Avengers film is a hotbed for paparazzi activity, with their latest snapshots revealing a lot more than just on-set acting gaffes. What can be confirmed is that the legendary Honda NSX supercar is back. CEO Takanobu Ito recently hinted at the NSX’s revival, when he revealed: “we’re making progress with plans for an exotic sports car.” While the car is still a prototype, there are several details that have been confirmed. Honda is working on a VTEC V6 engine of between 3.5 to 3.7 liters, while the twin electric motor set-up will be powered by lithium-ion batteries and employ a plug-in recharge system for a small electric-only range. The Acura-branded car will also have a weight-saving aluminum body, and is set to go on sale by 2014 priced at a Nissan GT-R-rivaling £65,000 EUR (approximately $87,367 USD).

Back in 2010, the Honda Type R Civic was launched with a 2.0-liter variant produced alongside its in-house tuner MUGEN. With only 20 models released in the UK market, four of those remain unsold but speculations arise that these will possibly be uplifted to MUGEN’s latest modification of the Type R Civic – named the Type R MUGEN 2.2. Prior to its debut last year, Honda’s hatchback engine specs will be expanded upon yet again to include a 2.2 L power-plant. This upgrade results in the engine’s output to 265 hp that goes with 177 lbs-ft of torque at 6000 rpm. Obtaining motorsport components that go along with the Type R viewpoint, the MUGEN 2.2 will carry on exclusive yet stunning technical specs that make it a relatively affordable performance-worthy car.

Making its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed is this Honda CR-Z RR concept model from racing car manufacturer Mugen Motorsports. Alongside another, more basic CR-Z hybrid model, the RR concept car is as race-ready as one could expect it to be with exterior aero bits intended for track use, a racy exhaust, and a Mugen badge on the rear that warns it’s not to be messed with. While there’s no official word on what performance modifications have been made under the hood, it’s fairly safe to assume that the car comes fully loaded.
