NY Times writer Kelefa Sanneh recently documented the current downfall of hip-hop as evidenced by sluggish album sales as well as the current role of independent music labels. Despite the unconvincing numbers and the lack of multi-million album sales which proliferated itself in the earlier half of this decade, it seems as though the need to grind it out is the difference from fading out and the end of the tunnel.
