Iconic American brand Gitman Brothers has teamed up once again with Opening Ceremony to present a range of button-up shirts for Spring/Summer 2012. An amalgam of flamboyant designs and bold colors find their way onto a selection of poplin and madras shirts. Each piece from the assortment is made with a choice selection of premium materials and quality construction. The shirts are now available with a retail price of $175 USD through the Opening Ceremony online shop.

When American outdoor brand Penfield USA was looking to expand into men’s shirting, they called on Gitman Bros, a brand known for their iconic knitwear to create a line of shirts for Fall/Winter 2010. World’s collide as Penfield brings it’s knowledge of rugged outdoor wear to Gitman’s understanding of tailored construction. To add an authentic outdoor look, shirts are featured in classic plaid flannels or oxford blues with chambray detailing down the front. The Woburn retails for $155 USD, while the Flitton shirt is sold for $165 USD. Available now at Penfield USA.

Italian outfit UNOTRE present a stylized shoot featuring Gitman Vintage’s 2010 fall/winter “Seasonal” collection. Having never left its homebase in Ashland, Pennsylvania, Gitman Bros. is among the increasingly small number of domestic American shirt manufacturers who have the ability to stand behind their “Made in USA” tag. Among the Gitman Bros. Vintage collection lies two varieties. While the Classic Collection is an ongoing range with consistent shirtings, the Seasonal Collection is comprised of archival styles based on a particular year (in this case, 1982) which are presented here.

INVENTORY pull the covers off their latest capsule of shirts with Gitman Bros. For the 2010 spring/summer season, the range features organic Japanese cotton in a slim fitted style. Three colors are available through the STOCKROOM.

Much like this months previous drop, Gitman Bros. continues its release of button-down’s for the Spring. This latest design takes on a patchwork base with a medley of floral, beach, and check motifs, adding a great balance for the new season. It can be purchased now via Garbstore.

Gitman Bros. release a selection of new button-downs for April, including these three for Spring 2010. Featured is a classic flannel, madras print button-down, and patch-work shirt, all featuring the style and craftsmanship synonymous with Gitman’s American-made designs. Still amongst the last few to produce their shirts entirely in the US, Gitman Bros. have joined forces with Opening Ceremony, resulting in this shirt collection. The line features five different plaid and striped shirts, reportedly of premium quality each complete with a subtly transposed elbow patch for contrast. The shirts are now available from Opening Ceremony.

Gitman Bros continue to team up with the Inventory team and have once again worked on a set a Tattersall BD shirts. Opting to use a 2-ply oxford cloth, the shirts have been tailored for Spring and are viewed as providing a transition between the colder and warmer months. The restrained colorway was also a considered choice, which Inventory suggest allow for the shirts to be worn either alone, or with layers. Featuring traditional Gitman detailing including red stitching on the neck button hole and gusset sides along with Inventory branding, the shirts are available in limited quantities from the Inventory Stockroom.

SeaVees and Gitman Bros. team-up to offer an interesting contrasted colorway on the 09/63 plimsoll sneaker. The sneaker features a two-tone design which combines suede and an interpretation of “bleeding madras,” a non-colorfast fabric which creates an interesting faded and bleeding aesthetic through each wash. However, it’s simply an homage to old 1960s notions of bleeding madras as it as been pre-faded for wearability. The collection is available now at SeaVees.

Our best-selling 09/63 Plimsoll is the base for our limited edition Bleeding Madras style. Bleeding madras is a hand-spun, yarn dyed woven from India, made popular in the 1960s (most notably in S.E. Hinton’s book The Outsiders). Dyes that were not colorfast were used, resulting in bleeding and fading colors that gave the fabric a new, personalized look each time it was laundered. Especially popular in California at the time, shirts were marketed as “guaranteed to fade.” We selected our two plaid patterns from the 1960s archives of our supplier.

Genuine, durable 40/40s Indian madras is combined with superior sueded leather on our 09/63 Bleeding Madras Plimsoll. Laces are oil stuffed rawhide leather. Flat eyelets are brushed silver. Comfort footbed is leather lined. Collars and heel counters are lined with sueded leather to secure fit. Our signature herringbone outsole design offers maximum slip resistance. SeaVees teamed with Gitman Brothers Vintage to replicate the magical look of original bleeding madras. (Note: We pre-faded our fabric to make it appropriate for footwear use, so you will not experience unwanted color transfer onto skin and clothing).
