New York City is now the home of this latest mural from D*Face curated by Corey Helford Gallery. The piece was completed in announcement from the Corey Helford Gallery of its East Coast debut at SCOPE in New York. London-based sculptor D*Face merged a bright color palate with comic-like imagery for this large scale painting. Also included in the collection of new works from the gallery are similar graffiti and street art works from Ron English, Aya Kato, Eric Joyner, Aya Kato, Eric Joyner, Ray Caesar, TrustoCorp and others.

To follow up on an introductory post regarding the “Behind the Berlin Wall” event at Wende Museum, the exhibition itself has now been opened to the public following a special event with museum director Jeremy Jampol and contributing artists D*Face, Herakut and RETNA. The Wende Museum is known for collecting relics from the Cold War. Two years prior Jampol had brought in 10 original pieces of the Berlin Wall to incorporate into a display – now expanding on that conception several contemporary graffiti artists are given the chance to reinterpret the meaning of this significant piece of history.

Artists Herakut, D*Face, and RETNA recently unveiled murals adorning original sections of the monumental barrier that once stood between East and West Berlin. Debuted in LA at the Wende Museum in an exhibition titled “Behind the Berlin Wall,” each piece incorporates uniquely styled visuals on the largest intact pieces of the Berlin Wall outside of Germany. This event is particularly relevant for artistic duo Herakut, which is comprised of Falk hailing from east Berlin and partner Jasmine from the west.

Although attaching spray paint cans to skateboards and using them to decorate a pool may seem like a silly act of vandalism or a rogue prank, the planning, technological work and organization of that exact feat, seen in the video above, took nearly a year to execute. Creating a “spray paint skateboard interface,” London-based street artist D*Face helped to invent a new form of painting. Linking the self-expression and freedom that comes along with skating to an aesthetic channel, the resulting “pool paint attack” actually ended up leaving the space colorfully-adorned with a geometric line pattern that looks surprisingly good. You can almost already hear local police forces in urban areas across the world hoping that spray paint/skate technology doesn’t become an accessible trend.

In preparation for the opening of his “Going Nowhere Fast” solo exhibition at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles, D*Face painted a large mural on the outer wall of the show space. Turning to the works of prominent American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein for inspiration, the mural takes on a traditional, highly-stylized comic book style with thick lines and bold color. Saturday night marked the opening of D*Face’s new exhibition “Going Nowhere Fast” at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles. As we reported previously, D*Face covered the exterior wall of the building with a large mural while the interior of the gallery was filled with some of the UK artist’s Lichtenstein-inspired pieces including large-scale canvases, installation pieces, dissected book reconstructions, skatedeck crossings and more. Internationally celebrated UK street artist D*Face is heading stateside for the debut of his new exhibition, entitled “Going Nowhere Fast,” at the Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles. Known for his wide array of works including a portrait of Pope Benedict XVI for The Vatican and the cover art for Christina Aguilera’s latest album Bionic, D*Face’s works have been sold at auction houses worldwide including Christie’s, Sotheby’s and Bonhams. Open to the public, “Going Nowhere Fast” will be on view at Corey Helford Gallery from April 9 until April 27 with a reception planned on Saturday, April 9 from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Following up on the announcement of the Faces Exhibition hosted by the Electric Blue Gallery comes an overview of the show. The group exhibition featured artwork based around the theme of how designer labels has come to manifest itself into our lives and as a culture. Participating artists include Zevs, Eine, Cezar, D*Face, Jasper Goodall and Rafał Zajko as they each occupy eleven different streets all within close proximity.
