Cultural innovators Alphanumeric rose from the ashes/came out of retirement to step back into the limelight with the same bold graphics and provocative statements which earned them many accolades at the turn of the century. With a series of experienced people at the helm, this comes as no surprise as their love for cornerstones of culture such as music and knowledge have translated into their design work and branched out into mixtapes. The first deck seen after the jump is the Calculus deck. A monogram of math symbols can be seen. Among their future releases is the Stacks skate deck which despite the 2D nature of photographs in general provides an interesting perspective. Available this holiday 2008.

The Source “Fine Dining” Skateboard Series

For Calgary skate shop The Source, the almost 20 year old store has looked to Daniel Curtis to create their Fine Dining series of decks. Shot with all real food which has passed through the gullet of Daniel Curtis, the series is a fun play on the theme of fine dining as it encompasses designs including hot dogs, donuts, fries and burgers. BMW GINA Light Visionary Model Debut

Aside from creating some of the most technologically advanced and respected automobiles in the world, BMW has debuted their latest innovation, the GINA Light Visionary Model. The dynamic model enables a car's structure to shape and change and reflects an all new way of thinking and approach to the automotive world. The GINA acronym is based around geometry and N for infinite changes which has become embodied as a BMW company wide philosophy to pushing the envelope. The GINA Light Visionary Model's concept of a skin in a non fixed/ non metal form offers numerous benefits including less energy intensive production. Definitely an interesting concept to see make its way into the general marketplace.

The Hundreds San Francisco: Pre-Post

Although never having the opportunity to visit The Hundreds second addition to their growing empire, The Hundreds San Francisco, the pictures have provided a small sense of what the retail experience entails. However I'm pretty sure not amount of visual will replace the actual experience as you venture into the cave. The extensive design process has recently been outlined by Bobby Hundreds as the steps from start to finish is outlined. With a theme of creating an amusement park ride inspired by Indiana Jones, The Goonies and 2001, for many I'm sure the goal has been well achieved.

Nike Beijing Athlete Projections

In order to celebrate and promote the upcoming 2008 Olympic in Beijing, Nike stepped up to the plate big time, literally, by projecting images of some of China's greatest athletes onto the sides of the new CCTV government building in Beijing. Designed by Dutch architect, Rem Koolhaas, the building represents China's rapid progress and its bright future. Nike chose the perfect medium for this campaign as it showcases China's athleticism with a very symbolic backdrop.

HUF Los Angeles - A Look at the Store

This past Saturday was the opening of the new HUF store in the Fairfax area in Los Angeles. The store's decor which includes the plywood blocky furniture is much inspired by Huf's roots - skateboarding. The store carries only HUF branded products including t-shirts, denim, caps and jackets. Perspective by Pharrell and Domeau & Pérès

Pharrell Williams has teamed up with furniture designer Domeau & Pérès to create this chair called Perspective. According to Pharrell who designed the chair, Perspective represents the love between a woman and a man. He says, "I had often wondered what it's like to truly be in love, not lust for once.. So I decided not to ask what it was like in someone else's shoes or what it was like to sit in their seat.. I decided to sketch out my own experiment; the perspective chair." Perspective will come in several colors with only four chairs per color being sold. If you want to check out the chair in person, you will find it showcased at the Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin in Paris from October 21st 2008 until January 10th 2009.

Agent Provacateur x MINI Clubman

British automobile maker MINI has teamed up with popular lingerie makers Agent Provocateur. Agent Provocateur's involvement includes the complete customization of MINI's most recent model, the Clubman. Aside from aesthetics, the interior has also been replaced to reflect the racy nature of AP. MINI has been on a campaign tear promoting their products over various mediums including team ups with VISONAIRE magazine and Onitsuka Tiger. Source: Autoblog

Lacoste 75th Anniversary - Let’s Re-Invent the Game

The Lacoste 75th anniversary has brought forth an interesting concept from the brand. The brand offers a futuristic look into the world of tennis, 75 years from now which utilizes an array of fictional gadgets and technologies. Lacoste also questions how founder Rene Lacoste would fair in the present day with new age equipment against the likes of Roger Federer and vice versa. The website can be seen at lacoste-future.com.
