Danner links with Japanese retailer Ships and its private label Ships General Supply to create a new capsule of hiking boots for this season. The last few seasons have seen a strong focus on the Mountain Light as Ships goes a different route choosing the Mountain Trail instead. A focus on materials manifests itself through the use of Horween-sourced Chromexcel leather as well as a branded Vibram outsole. Available now from the Ships Jet Blue store.

Storied shoemaker Danner has been known to collaborate with equally authentic brands, and with the New Year finally upon us, the Portland, Oregon manufacturer teams up with iconic label Stussy to offer the Mountain Ridge Mid. Presented in a similar light to Danner’s Mountain Light silhouette, this boot provides exceptional comfort with a GORE-TEX liner, Vibram outsole, and a full-grain waterproof leather upper. Complete with metal eyelets and contrasting red laces, the made in America Mountain Ridge Mid for Stussy will be available at Stussy Japan retailers on January 7 for ¥33,600 JPY (approximately $438 USD).

Available in mid-November, the Danner Stumptown Mountain Trail Willamette is a boldly-colored and finely crafted leather boot. Officially referred to as azure blue, the boots are made in the USA and named for the Willamette River that runs through Portland, Oregon. For those of you not afraid to bat a sartorial eyelash, these are available for purchase at Danner for $310 USD.

Limited to 500 pairs worldwide, this handcrafted in America release features a GORE-TEX lining, Vibram Sierra sole, and a 650 last creating a slender profile. Currently available and retailing for $360 USD, Danner will donate $10 from each pair sold to the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Stumptown series is essentially a collection of shoes based on the original Danner patterns. The outdoor boots manufacturer has decided to explore the possibilities of offering products that were built and designed from a simpler time, but with new refined improvements in order to fit the conditions of this day and age. This concept of “Stumptown” was loosely derived as a symbol of pride of their hometown of Portland, Oregon. Paying tribute to its historical logging industry, these shoes are functional with grooves on its sole to improve traction. The Danner Mountain Light Patterson was named after Colonel F.E. Patterson, the first military instructor in Portland. Retailing at $340 USD, this particular pair can now be purchased via Danner.

Transparent Studios, in collaboration with Tadd Myers, Bryan Finke and Haven Anderson, showcase Danner Boots in one of seven films as part of the Crafting Higher Standards series. The brand has been around since 1932 and is well known for their craftsmanship and reliable working boots. Through beautiful imagery narrated by Danner employees, we get a close glimpse of the assembled parts of their historic boots and the meticulous process behind Danner’s recrafting services. Customers can have their heavily worn boots fully repaired by hand to lengthen the life of the boot, as part of a process that is rarely seen or appreciated these days.

The Tanner Goods and Danner Mountain Light “Lownsdale” has enjoyed a good amount of press since the announcing of the collaboration between Oregonian entities. The following video won’t offer too many surprises as a full look into the Lownsdale has already been seen, however a behind-the-scenes factory visit will give potential buyers a heads-up about what exactly they’re buying into. The boot’s defining point is a Horween-sourced Chromexcel leather with a robust Vibram sole.

The Danner Mountain Light Lownsdale is Danner’s first collaboration with Tanner Goods and is named after Daniel H. Lownsdale, who established Portland’s first tannery around 1845. Both known for their lasting quality products, Danner and Tanner Goods produce a boot constructed with genuine Chromexcel leather that takes roughly 28 days to mature prior to being used. Along with hand-welted Vibram flex 2061 outsoles, other details you’ll find are the nickel eyelets, GORE-TEX lining and olive Chromexcel-colored uppers. This new release can be purchased exclusively online at Tanner Goods.
