The MOTHER NEW YORK x ANIMAL x BNE exhibition recently kicked off in New York. The event featured the work of one of the world’s most prolific artists in terms of global presence, BNE who’s simple three letter sticker has been seen frequently around parts of the US, Australia and Asia among other areas of the world. Much of the exhibition was devoted to social commentary on large corporations. The address for the BNE gallery can be seen below.

In various metropolitan areas around the world, the sticker work of BNE litters the urban landscape. The simple BNE sticker in its white background/black font has been disseminated at a rate of 10,000 stickers a month according toa recent NY Times article. However, the artist teams up with ANIMAL and MOTHER on his first solo show tomorrow in New York City which undoubtedly represents a vastly different arena and a far cry from the backstreets of Harajuku and Causeway Bay. While BNE is known largely for his stickers, we have seen him apply himself on other mediums in the past including prints and apparel with realmad HECTIC. Venturing through the streets of Tokyo and major metropolitan areas around the world, you’ll be hard-pressed not to see the sticker remnants featuring the hard-work of BNE who has globetrotted the world leaving his mark. In what was originally foreshadowed a few months ago, BNE continues his association with realmadHECTIC on some technical outerwear. The jacket is full of intricate little details including waterproof zippers, tonal embroideries such as “MAD FUCKING HECTIC” and “KING BNE WAS HERE” as well as trademark BNE sticker on the inner lining. The technical 3-layer nature of the jacket ensures to keep you dry and comfortable with maximum breathability. Also releasing but not shown are matching 3-layer 5-panel caps. Last year an individual by the name of BNE caused a huge uproar around the world as suddenly major cities around the world were littered with BNE stickers. The acronym BNE itself ignited an overwhelming number of assumptions on its meaning, however many of the stickers contained two Japanese characters which loosely to “visit” or “come here” which may have provided a clue. The matter escalated and even had the San Francisco mayor place a $2,500 USD bounty on the persecution of BNE.

Once a year, the artist places one print up for sale on his website. This Tokyo Neighborhood Watch print measures 20″ x 20″, with only 100 copies created. Each copy is individually signed and numbered. The print will go on sale 8 pm EST on Monday, October 15th. With a price tag of $500, the sales of these prints will surely provide BNE another chance to travel around the world and plaster more stickers.
