Parisian retailer and creative agency BlackRainbow team up with CAT to develop a new sneaker due to launch this December. Looking into the history of the Caterpillar brand, the team of Greg Hervieux and Jay Smith worked up a design that features CAT’s workwear aesthetic with a modern take on detailing. Most notable is a camouflage canvas print seen on the heel, with nylon ripstop paneling and a premium leather upper. Heavy duty hex eyelets and moc toe stitching add a rugged element to the rather refined silhouette, expected to release in three colorways.

Founded by Greg Hervieux and Jay Smith, BKRW has been one of the lasting street-centric media properties helping bridge the gap of fashion through several angles and associations. Based in Paris, we met with the duo for a tour of their neighborhood, Le Marais which included a talk with Hervieux about the foundation of BKRW. We also gain some insights into their retail location Black Rainbow as well as some thoughts on the changing landscape of media thanks to online media outlets.

Parisian shop Black Rainbow creates their own in-house lookbook featuring a variety of brands carried in-store. Shot in the streets of Paris by Guillaume Lechat, the shoot captures a chill day in le Marais. Featured brands include Stussy, Undefeated, Supreme, Wood Wood, Converse, Puma, New Balance, Vans, Penfield, Oakley and a bunch of others. The items featured in the lookbook can be purchased now through the Black Rainbow online store.

Black Rainbow Shop Paris recently teamed up with Parisian creative workshop drom Ffagrances to develop a scented candle. Taking the concept of the raw and industrial feel of the store, drom fragrances wanted to underline the varnish, the plaster, the fresh wood, the debris and the dust of the shop. As if the smell of a work site would ever become synonymous with a noble impression, they enhanced it with notes of wood and a fruity smell. Using to that effect a balanced blend of cedar wood, notes of leather, tonka beans, musk and a smoky effect.

Parisian boutique BlackRainbow linked up with Street Tease on a lookbook featuring new items from the store’s line of brands. A seasonal lookbook of sorts, the shot captures a wide assortment of street brands along with more contemporary choice selections. All of the items are now available through BlackRainbow in Paris for purchase, as well as via the retailer’s online store. Shots of the lookbook are offered below.

Part creative agency, media outlet and retailer, Paris’ BKRW/Black Rainbow movement recently opened the doors to a new retail space. Combining a number of popular brands with some strong contemporary labels, the roster reads like the following, Penfield, Staple, Nike Sportswear, Supra, Medicom Sebago, Barbour and Woolrich among other brands.

French collective Black Rainbow (BKRW) offer up the third installation of their staple varsity jacket, this time taking on a more subtle approach than previous campaigns. The jacket boasts a mainly black body with tonal detailing and orange accents along with Black Rainbow embroidery.

Our friends Jay and Greg over at BKRW put together this wicked video with the help of German-Brazilian photographer Albercht Gerlach. Bringing the package together was also the help of French personalities SHKS (sound) and TYRSA (graphics) to showcase a series of looks emanating from the BLACK RAINBOW capsule collection.

Introducing their triple collaborative effort, BKRW hook up with Black Rainbow and Astral on an elegant down jacket piece. The coat features a fox-fur collar with silk lining while the fill is comprised of goose down and contours. Their design efforts are kept pretty minimal with a black tonal exterior and signature label patches. The jacket is limited to 75 pieces worldwide and can be purchased via Black Rainbow’s online store.

In an effort spanning the creative forces of Sebastien Pons, BKRW and Black Rainbow, the three developed the concept of “In Hoc Signo Vinces” into a varsity jacket. The Latin slogan seen on the chest translates to “By this sign, you win”. On the right sleeve patch of the jacket, another Latin slogan is seen “Intus et in cute” translating to “Inside and under the skin”. As well the sleeves included decorative Yi Ching patches with Touei (Left/Pink) symbolizing “the cheerful, the lake” and Kouen (Right/Blue) symbolizing the “receptacle, the earth”.
