As part of the 2012 Medicom Toy Exhibition, the famed figurine maker has unveiled a glow-in-the-dark version of its 400% Karimoku Bearbrick. The Karimoku series of Bearbrick figures are constructed entirely out of granular wood by esteemed Japanese woodworkers Karimoku. Unique to this version of course, is that the wood has been treated to glow in the dark. This commemorative Bearbrick is expected to be released on June 23, and will retail for ¥62,790 JPY (approximately $790 USD).

Coming in the form of a 70% Eames Bearbrick, this newest release is presented by Medicom Toy for the MEDICOM TOY EXHIBITION 2012. A trio of colorways are offered up via this collaborative item, designed in-part by the reputable Eames Office, which staked its claim in the design world with revolutionary furniture design including several Eames Chairs. Allowing this piece to stand out from an abundance of Bearbrick products is an embedded Swarovski crystal. A release date has been set for June 23.

Continuing to roll out the collaborations, Medicom Toy is releasing a bearbrick designed by Japanese menswear brand NEIGHBORHOOD for Summer 2012. Donning a predominately matte black look with translucent ears, the toy sports NEIGHBORHOOD branding throughout, including the brand’s skull and crossbones across the chest. This latest collaborative bearbrick will be made available come next month.

One of the more unusual releases from Medicom Toy, the brand is set to introduce an aroma diffuser disguised as a Bearbrick. Detail-free with a semi-translucent white exterior, the diffuser even houses a built-in LED. Coming in 400% form and measuring 280mm, this Bearbrick will see a release in June.

Constructed of solid aluminum, the collaborative release sees a minimalist look with branding appearing only on the underside of the toy’s paws. In celebration of the opening of the Medicom Toy Tokyo flagship store in the similarly new Tokyo Sky Tree Town facility, the veteran toy maker has unveiled a line of ornate Bearbricks to commemorate the occasion. Dressed up in bold colors with expert detailing, each toy has an individual personality with imagery pulled from the streets and people of Japan. Dubbed the lion, beckoning cat and tin goldfish (two versions), the latest from Medicom Toy will retail for ¥1,000 JPY (approximately $12 USD).

After recently invading Hong Kong for his Nicopanda Pop-Up shop at Lane Crawford, Nicola Formichetti mints a custom Medicom Toy Bearbrick aptly titled, “NICOPANDA.” The miniature novelty is mocked up in black and white and boasts Formichetti’s trademark Nicopanda design. Measuring in at 70mm, the 100% Bearbrick is slated for a May 2012 release through select stockists.

2012 marks the 77th anniversary of Yoshida & Co (the makers of Porter bags), and to celebrate, the heritage luggage and accessory label is going big — 400% big. They’ve enlisted the help of Japanese Karimoku craftsmen to handcraft a giant Medicom Bearbrick out of exotic Padauk wood. Naturally, the bears are being produced in exceptionally limited quantities — each, carrying two bags inspired by Yoshida’s iconic ‘Porter silhouette,’ used in the company’s classic branding campaigns. The 400% Bearbrick isn’t expected to be available for purchase until October 2012, which will leave you plenty of time to save, as it’ll set you back ￥74,000 JPY (approximately $915 USD).
