Furthering its footwear offerings for Spring/Summer 2012, Balmain introduces its latest Leather High Top Sneakers. Making use of its penchant for premium leather textiles, Balmain mocks the pair up in an all-black supple leather upper and is complemented with tonal waxed laces and metal hardware. Quilted ankle padding dominates the upper ankle of the hi-tops, while attenuate black stitching delineates the understated paneling of the pair. Filling the shoes of a previously successful designer is never an easy task. For Balmain, having Christophe Decarnin at the reins vastly improved and invigorated the French label who saw a transition at the hands of Olivier Rousteing. Entering his sophomore showing for Balmain, military garb inspired by Russian Imperial Army uniforms yielded some smartly tailored pieces that was set alongside some of Balmain’s more signature pieces, including of course the leather division.

Inspired by the same motorcycle history and culture as the more prominent moto styles, the jacket boasts a rich tumbled black leather composition. The jacket takes on its high-fashion aesthetic via dual, asymmetrical zippers that run the vertical length of its front panels. Quilted shoulder pads and lower sleeve accents finish off the piece. The latest release from the French label is an all-white leather biker jacket that could possibly be seen on an off-duty Stormtrooper.
