The Consortium Series presents a fresh reworking of the adidas ZX 500 running shoe in Issue 06 of sneaker magazine Sneaker Freaker. Designed by Quote, a vintage adidas shoe collector, the shoe features two shades of gray and royal blue. As part of the “My Story” adidas campaign, this is the first of five sneaker specimens especially designed by world-renowned artists, musicians and creatives for the brand. The shoe will be released alongside other sneakers designed by Aloe Blacc and DJ Muro.

As mentioned last month, adidas Originals’ Consortium pack is back and will be available this week, November 26. In conjunction with Swedish sneaker boutique Sneakersnstuff, the Consortium pack returns from more than a year in hiatus, this time the exclusive collection takes inspiration from the Latin phrase tabula rasa, translated to “blank slate.” Featuring five iconic molds (ZX 500, Decade, BC, Matchplay and Pro Shell), the Tabula Rasa pack will sport a new beginning with entirely white palettes on materials ranging from nubuck to pigskin. Up until Saturdays release, Sneakersnstuff will highlight each day with a releasing model on its Consortium microsite.

After a brief hiatus, adidas Originals’ Consortium series returns with an impressive revival inspired by the Latin term, “tabula rasa” (meaning “blank slate”). Creating a new beginning and future for the Consortium range, adidas has gone back to basics with a palette of natural white tones finished in premium materials like pigskin and nubuck, crafting a perfect blank canvas. Models include the Pro Shell, ZX 500, Matchplay and BC adidas Originals models. The adidas Consortium will hit select retailers November 26.

The adidas ZX 500 takes on a more casual look in this new colorway for the Fall/Winter 2011 season. Designed for the everyday man, the kicks carry a new suede spice coloring along with adidas’s iconic three stripes in Bluebird-Vapor. adidas drops a new colorway in its staple ZX 500 for Spring 2011. Simple and to the point, the kicks feature a black base with fresh blue accenting and white midsoles. Contrast comes via a leather upper with embossed suede paneling. These are now available through finer adidas stockists worldwide, including Schuh-You.

Fall 2010 welcomes a new colorway in adidas’ classic ZX 500. The kicks come in a leather/suede makeup with black and red uppers sitting atop white/grey midsoles. Definitely another winner from adidas for the new season. These are available now through Schuh-You, as well as other fine adidas stockists worldwide.

These are the latest editions of the adidas ZX 500. First released in 1984, the ZX 500 enjoys a proud history with these models looking to add to it. Featuring a tight mesh underlay, nipple rubber stud outsole and ghilly lacing system, one version opts to use matt red, green and black colors as accents, whilst the other is dominated by a similar shade of red. Originally designed as a high mileage training shoe, the ZX 500 released in 1984 and featured a combination of Nylon mesh with suede reinforcements, serving to minimize the weight and maximize the breathability of the shoe. The streamlined silhouette and clean lines of the ZX 500 means that it has remained a favorite amongst sneaker aficionados since it first dropped and striking makeups of the shoe still regularly appear more than 25 years after it appeared. This version is no exception, featuring a predominantly white upper with pops of Spearmint green and grey, a simple colorway that is further accentuated by thinking through the use of materials on the upper. The toe box is in white mesh surrounded with white leather that is also used with perforations on the heel of the shoe. The soft grey suede used on the lace stays matches sections of the midsole as does the associated black ghilly lacing system. The shoe is finished with the Trefoil tongue tag, heel tab with Trefoil and the ubiquitous 3-Stripes all in a cooling Spearmint green that sets off the grey and white perfectly.

Introduced in the mid 80′s as a bio-mechanically correct, high mileage trail/road running shoe, the ZX 500 featured a particularly unique sole: with multi-purpose rubber outsole studs that gripped on soft ground, but retreated into the tread on harder surfaces. Representing the technological age of the 1980s, this version features a patterned fabric combined with a mesh to partly disguise the striping pattern and employs neon colors to emphasize the graphic style of the time.

Inline with this inspiration, the game, entitled “ZX Runner,” is an ’80s-style platformer that lets you take on the role of DJ Zed as he races through to a blacked-out neighborhood to get to his midnight set on time. With 5 minutes on the clock, you will need to run, moon-walk, climb walls, avoid some dodgy-looking thugs, collect power-ups, and pull off insane rooftop-to-rooftop stunts to make it to the stage.

ZX 500 – Cyan Blue/Flamingo

Originally designed as a high mileage training shoe, the Zx 500 released in 1984 and featured a combination of Nylon mesh with suede reinforcements, serving to minimize the weight and maximize the breathability of the shoe. The streamlined silhouette and clean lines of the ZX 500 means that it has remained a favourite amongst sneaker aficionados since it first dropped and striking makeups of the shoe still regularly appear more than 25 years after it appeared. This version is no exception and features a head turning, brilliant blue suede and Nylon mesh upper with pops of flamingo on the heel stability counter and the traditional ghilly lacing system. The colourful upper is tastefully contrasted with white and light grey on the midsole and a light grey heel tab that showcases the Trefoil while the 3-Stripes are foxed and finished with a thin flamingo piping.

ZX 700 – Black/Yellow/Grey

The ZX 700 first made an appearance in 1985 as a high mileage runner but quickly made an equally considerable impact in the style stakes.
Arguably one of the less technical silhouettes in the ZX family, this version takes takes the simpler silhouette and drops a striking colourway that takes this into the realms of must have acquisitions. The upper is a predominantly black suede with the use of a matching black mesh on the toe box and behind the 3-Stripes for maximum breathability. The ghilly system and heel stability counter are also in a complementary grey while the whole upper is set off with pops of a bright yellow on the 3-Stripes, Trefoil tongue tag, heel tab and the reflective section of the toe box. The white midsole with sections of grey around the heel serves to keep everything in balance and finishes the shoe off perfectly.
