If you fancy a bit of wordplay with your sneakers, check out the new adidas Busenitz, dubbed “Bluesenitz.” This blue and yellow sneaker is actually a subtle homage to certain vintage versions of the Copa Mundial soccer cleat. True to the Busenitz style, this shoe features the oversized fold-over tongue and contrasting gum sole. Each shoe will also come with a special soccer-themed sticker pack when it releases on May 1 to sneaker boutiques like The Premier Store.

In addition to updated versions of the Busenitz, Skate, Adi Ease and Rod Laver, adidas Skateboarding is also cooking up a new version of the Silas Pro for Spring 2012. Characterized by its hybrid design that sees both indoor and outdoor sensibilities employed, the four-color offering is performance-based and hosts a variety of high-quality materials throughout the shoe’s construction. The spring brings the adidas adi Ease Gonz, a shoe inspired by one of the most influential men in all of skateboarding: Mark Gonzales. Featuring a straightforward design, the season finds the sneaker in a bold yellow or more nuanced grey colorway. Each offering contains white soles and complimentary usage of blues either along the bottom or on the heel section. Expect to see these being rolled out at select adidas retailers in the very near future.

In August 2011 the adidas South Africa Skateboard Team went on a road trip to Maputo, Mozambique. Directed by Adriaan Louw and Sam Clark, the dazzling skate footage features the likes of Pieter Retief, Jansen van Staden and Khulu Dlamini. Filmed with an artistic quality in mind, the footage from Maputo will satiate film enthusiasts from varying backgrounds.

While other major brands have already utilized classic models reworked as skate shoes, over the years adidas has maintained designs in the skate arena that were distinctly new. 2012 finds the brand bringing one of their most iconic shoes – the Rod Laver to the adidas skateboarding family. First launched in 1972, the updated Laver models include the Busenitz, Silas and Lucas. Expect to see the latest spring offerings at select adidas retailers in the coming weeks.

Starring Michael Sieben, Stacey Lowery and Josh “Shortbus” Johnson, the film details how the two skateboarding giants have combined business and punk into one “badass jam”: “Bunk.”

The adidas Skateboarding Rod Laver Vin “Silas” was designed by Silas Baxter-Neal, Thrasher Magazine’s 2008 Skater of the Year. The Dennis Busentiz-designed adidas Skateboarding signature has been one of the sportswear brand’s strongest skate models seasons-to-season. Offering great skate sensibilities with a classic aesthetic inspired by the German brand’s soccer heritage, this 2012 drop takes on an ever popular and hard to screw up tonal approach. The University Red joint should make for a rather bold addition when it hits skate stores in the early part of next year.

Taking on obvious soccer-inspired influences, the skate shoe features perforations throughout the suede upper with a tonal contrast via the branding and heel. A new colorway of adidas Skateboarding’s Pete Eldridge-designed Ronan drops. This new variation of the Ronan comes in a black suede with touches of bright red at the toe and shoe collar.
