A concept that began in 2010 in a ramp-up to the 2010 World Cup, the adiCup once again took place this past weekend in New York City. In a city that is quickly emerging as a hotbed of soccer-related events and activities (including the current playing of the Cosmos Copa), the more lifestyle-orientated adiCup welcomed a slew of notable participants. The likes of United Bamboo, Complex FC, The Standard, Opening Ceremony, VICE FC and the Chinatown Soccer Club all competed for the honor of being this year’s champion as adidas-sponsored DJ Neil Armstrong provided the beats for the day.

After a successful session last year, adiCup announces its 2011 event in New York City. The event will take place at Chelsea Waterside Park on July 9 and will include not only soccer but also a BBQ, drinks and music by DJ Neil Armstrong. Check the list of teams and address below.

adidas Originals capped off a succesful adiCup 2010 campaign as the final game saw Germany’s Anderas Muehe and Japan’s C.A. Tokyo square off. The match would took place at adidas’ headquarters in Herzogenaurach. The eventual winners Andrea Muehe booked a place to watch the World Cup finals currently taking place in South Africa. Match highlights can be seen in a video.

With the New York City, Tokyo, Berlin, and London legs of this year’s adiCup officially wrapped up, we move on to the next participating city: Herzogenaurach. In celebration of this year’s Adicup, we’re teaming up with adidas to give away one Herzogenaurach adiCup pack to a lucky reader. The final product group in the pack is a design collaboration between adidas and Nelson Mandela’s charity group 46664 to honour the role of South Africa as the World Cup host from June this year. The final pack features a jersey, Votary shoes, bag and a limited edition ball that will be the match ball at all of the adiCup tournaments globally this year. The Votary SA version is an iconic affair with a white on black colourway on a premium all black leather upper and the rubberized midsole and segmented toe on the upper that is standard across all of the regional packs. The jersey is also predominantly black with a 46664 logo on the arm and the ‘Hand’ logo embroidered on the chest opposite the Trefoil logo, both in white and is finished with the adiCup2010 logo embroidered in gold on the waist hem. The tournament ball is black with white detailing and features the 46664 ‘Hand’ logo, the adiCup 2010 logo in gold and the Tango logo that pays homage to the beautiful game. Also included is an all-black, premium leather hold all bag perfect for carrying this historic kit to and from the pitch. Only 250 of the final packs will be made available so don’t sleep if you want a chance to own a piece of history.

A strong crowd of close a thousand people were on hand for this year’s adiCup London leg. With typical unpredictable British weather, the final featured a meeting between the British Fashion Council and Metalheadz United. United ran out winners with a thorough 5-1 thrashing of their opponents with an after-party held at Somerset house. To compliment all the football action was a presentation of the Votary city pack of shoes, bags and kits as well as large-scale shots of the adiCup girls.

The German round of the ongoing adiCup was held recently at Wrangelstr, Berlin. After a slice of controversy, ANDREAS MÜHE were declared the winners ahead of 361 WILLEMSBURG and Bar 25 in front of over 1000 people. Perfect weather was enjoyed by all, particularly when the BBQ and drinks were served. Enjoy the photos below!

Teaming up for the UK adiCup 2010 pack is Exit Magazine and the adidas No6 store, who took inspiration from patterns on the historical jerseys from the USSR and Holland, imbuing it with light blue. The shoes included in the pack, the Votary are also a light blue and are modeled after the classic soccer boot from adidas, the Copa Mundial. Sitting on an original Gazelle outsole, it’s a fresh and wearable version of the iconic boot, specially created for adiCup 2010. The jersey features Exit and adidas No6 logos on the respective sleeves with a combined badge on the chest and adiCup2010 logo embroidered in gold on the waist hem. Also included is a hold-all bag in a matching colorway, perfect for carrying the kit to and from the pitch on the big day. Constructed from a heavy canvas, the bag features an interior pocket along with leather carrying handles for durability.
