5x5 is NOT a routine for powerlifters. They rarely stick with a 5x5 routine as it becomes too much volume for them to actually progress. Their programs are more complicated as they work off their one rep max instead. 5x5 is for any BEGINNER who's looking to build MASS & STRENGTH. And this is beneficial to cutting as well because if you're strong, then you'll be able to lift heavier weights at higher reps. I would not suggest stopping 5x5 unless you've already maximized the strength gains and you're stalling in progression. @art - 5x5 will be harder for you to make progress though since you're cutting. Once the weights get heavier, you'll stall much faster because of the volume. If you're not in a rush to lose weight, then I would suggest sticking to your current routine and doing a lean bulk. But if you really wanna cut, then once you've stalled on 5x5, try doing 3x5 with some added accessories instead. I highly suggest the former though. All the exercises in your routine are excellent by the way. The payoff will be much greater in the end if you decide to stick to them.

[Quote] Basically all you need to do is retract your scapula (squeeze your shoulder blades together) and maintain that position while pressing. Just stand up and do a normal pressing movement with your arms, then start squeezing your shoulder blades together and you'll notice that there's more tension in the pecs. If you're already doing this and still can't feel it in your chest, then you need to lower the weight a bit. Chances are you're starting with correct form but your shoulders probably start to come off the bench half way through the set. Heavier weight makes it harder to make that muscle/mind connection because you're more focused on trying to get the rep rather than activating the chest. Go for a weight that you can comfortably do in the 8-12 rep range and only move up in weight when your form doesn't become compromised while pressing.

[Quote] Nice, man. Get that 315! I'm still struggling to hit 225.. I'm stuck at 215 for one rep. I'm 145 lbs at the moment and thinking of gaining 5-10 more lbs just to hit 225.

^Flat benchpress is the best exercise to build a huge chest, but the problem is people don't know how to bench with their pecs and instead let their shoulders and triceps dominate the movement, like you said. I had the same problem and my shoulders are huge compared to my chest.  I've recently added weighted dips to my routine and it's become my favourite exercise for the chest after flat benchpress.

[Quote] The only real way is to lower your bodyfat percentage. But that also depends on your body type. You could be sitting at a low bodyfat % and still have thunder thighs because that's just the way you're built. If that's the case then there's not really anything you can do to make them "skinnier".

Try an upper/lower split then. It's only 4 times a week, but the workouts tend to extend to 2 hours. I've made my best gains doing 2x frequency a week.

If you go to 6 times a week, you should look into doing a push/pull/leg split. You'll be hitting each muscle group twice a week as opposed to doing 1-2 different muscle group each day once a week. You're looking good though. Keep it up!
