Calling out for Graphic Designers in TO

Thanks for the suggestions. Have done the OCAD option and I have to say the response from their site is a bit disappointing.

Calling out for Graphic Designers in TO

It's for a restaurant. I'm looking for logo design and some help building a brand identity. I'm still at the early stages of getting this project off the ground and would really like a graphic designer/creative to grow this project with. Is there a site like this in Toronto? [URL] - There are tons of creatives out there, but I'm finding it hard to find ones that understand (or are into) the urban culture.

Thoughts about Ransom at Holt?

I think there might be some confusion between growing a brand and selling out (going commercial). You can grow your brand without selling out, it's not how many people are wearing your stuff it's how you go about exposing your brand that makes a difference between selling out and not. There are a lot of brands out there that grow their brand and market without selling out. It's even possible for you to work with commercial companies and not sell out (example Collette x Gap). But what Ransom seems to be doing is simply going commercial (and I'm not hating them for wanting to make money and I'm not saying it's a bad business decision). It seems like they're trying to chase the money instead of grow the Brand in a way the foster street culture. Ya, Holt might have a selected # of stores, but Holt is very commercial.

Thoughts about Ransom at Holt?

I'm not saying it's a bad business move - yes it's a great business move. But still building your brand doesn't mean you have to sell out. There are tons of street brands that make a lot of money without selling out. I'm not sure why you guys don't think their style isn't street influenced. When I look at that stuff, I see a lot of street in the style. Just because it can be worn in the office doesn't mean it's not street influenced/style. I would say, because it's worn in the office nowm it is a perfect example of how street culture is being sold out.

Thoughts about Ransom at Holt?

I know it's been out for awhile now, but I'm a bit irked by seeing ransom at Holt. I don't want to bad mouth Ransom/GF/Nomad but I can't help feel that they're selling out. I'm pretty sure you're not going to see a supreme T being sold at Holt, Saks, etc. I'm all for building your brand and making money, but there needs to be something said about remaining true to the "culture". What you guys thinking?

Are you Green?

^^^ At least youre thinking about it. That the first step. I know what you mean about changing habits...I find it hard too. Maybe we're looking at green in the wrong way. To me it seems like the problems is that over use everthing....so maybe we need to cut down not cut out

Are you Green?

^^^^ hahah joker....But I' m sure there are tones of people that are conscience consumers that don't sing kumbaya and screw their trees. Maybe that's the problem with being "green" - people just don't think it's "cool" - imagine is everything right?

Are you Green?

[Quote] ^^^ Well as global warming is a proven fact how come we all still don't give a shit for the most part? Does it really come down to money and name? I mean people bitch when they see an organic tshirt for 20 but are will to pay 60+ from a big brand easy (myself included). You yourself (and I) say you don't change are habit -what's with this careless consumerism? Come on guys keep the thought coming.

Are you Green?

^^^ Ya good point. I don't think I can argue with that logic. But are you telling me that the other brands don't mark their stuff up like crazy? I mean have you seen some of the prices T-s are going at? surely it's doesn't cost 60+ for a T. Also, if it cost more to make organic, it make more sense to me as to why it cost more for the final product - but these other brands are using the cheapest things they can find (or as close as the cheapest things they can find) so for them it's only profit Do you guys even think about a green alternative when you go buy your stuff? I mean to be honest I'm starting too, but it's not the first thing on my mind...but if I can help why not right? ANother problem is there's just nothing nice that's green everything seem so gimmicky

Are you Green?

^^^ Well, there's no way to control the weather....what I was trying to get to is that, maybe we as consumer have impacted the world in a negative way and all the tree huggers could be right. Has our way of living caused some damage and if so does anyone on here really care?
