[Official] Picture/Video/Gif thread Part II

[Quote]I know what you're saying, but being a "good shot" at the range is nothing like being a good shot in the field. I agree that too many unarmed people are getting killed by police, but I hear the argument a lot that police should just be shooting threats in the knee whenever a video like this pops up and it's just not feasible. I think the discussion should be focusing on why they are using lethal force over a taser to begin with. Especially with two cops and the kid being armed with a close range weapon (knife), one could have easily used his pistol to cover the cop using his taser in case it failed.

[Official] Picture/Video/Gif thread Part II

[Quote]No offense, and I'm all against the cops too, but you sound like someone who's never shot a gun before. You know how hard it is to hit a moving person in the knee (or even one standing still for that matter)? Especially when the adrenaline's flowing. If you perceive it as a threat to your life, you're not going to carefully aim at someone's knee.

Seattle is a great city.

Seattle actually gets less rainfall than a lot of cities in the US. It's just constantly cloudy. It hardly ever rains hard. To me, Seattle is hipster and Portland is hippy. Seattle is only liberal and artsy to the point that its convenient and "cool." (e.g., Starbucks, Macklemore, H&M). Portland is really about that life (as in dirty barefoot hippies, good breweries, dreads, etc). From someone who has consistently visited Seattle my whole life and lived here the last 4 years, it really doesn't have a great night life. As much as I like it, pretty much any city with a college in Texas, CA, etc. has a much better night life.

If you are an idiot don't bother reading this.

It's not crazy that there are hundreds of kids in a classroom in college now or that it's practically a requirement to have a good job. If you think that's crazy, you don't understand history or economic development. Our current college system is a consequence of being a successful country. You'll notice that most first world colleges are the same. That's because in modern America, most natural resources have already been claimed (making most blue collar work not super valuable - this was the main driver of growth in the 1700s-late 1880s) and the minimum wage is too high for basic production (Americans will never be cheaper for making clothes, basic consumer goods, etc. than the Chinese for example - production was a main growth driver from the 1800s to about the 1950s (think the Ford era)). This means that the only jobs/industries left in America are the "hard" ones: medicine, engineering, high finance, biotech, etc. with the service sector jobs (maids, fast food workers, etc) left over for the uneducated. This may seem like a curse, but it's only a result of us being so successful. And yes, you absolutely need AT LEAST an undergraduate degree to be semi-competent in any of those fields. Sure, there are things wrong with our education system, but overall it's necessary. To wish for things to not be this way is to wish that we as a country had a lower standard of living and were back in the 50s.

Why are there so many rich Asian kids?

[Quote]same shit. any asian that can afford to move from China (just recently not a third world country and has extremely high income disparity) to any first world country (including the UK) is rich as hell in the first place.

Why are there so many rich Asian kids?

zzzboy is the only one who has it right so far. Pretty much anyone who goes to university on the west coast will be able to tell you about all the rich ass asian kids. Most of them are international students or first generation Americans, because statistically, the only Asians you're going to see at a good American university are the ones who are rich enough to have made it out of their home country.
