There is no reason to soak them at all unless you want to get rid of the starchy stiffness and shrink them a bit.

[Quote] Thanks for that tip. So do the 310 stretch a lot too? Should you size down one with the 310 too? I'm planning to buy either the 310 or 1001 when SE gets them back in stock.

the FH05BSP is tapered; the 1001 is a heavier weight denim slim straight fit with cotton stitch instead of poly cotton blend.

[Quote] It looks like you might have to reinforce the wallet pocket at some point cause the rest of the jeans look like they have a lot of life in them. Those fades are off the hook. I just got a pair and after a lot of shrinking they fit great and I'm stoked.

Black Selvedge Skulls: are there any evo pics of those? I'm wondering how they fade.

[Quote] Cool. Clou, did you go true to size with your 1001? I'm trying to decide between the 1001 and the 310. I like the idea of heavier denim and really like buttons instead of zippers, but it sounds like the 1001 stretch more than the 3001.

How hard is it to take the stitching off the pockets of 3001, 310, 1001? Anyone try this?

[Quote] Yeah, oops,I meant sanforized when I mentioned skull and iron heart. I might try spraying some starch into the flatheads after I get them back from being hemmed.

You know the stiff resistance you get when you put on a pair of raw skull or iron heart or other heavyweight raw denim unsanforized jean? Well, I kind of like working through that as I'm breaking them in. So recently I just got a pair of unsanforized STF flathead and after soaking, they don't have that at all. I guess any starch, if they were starched at all, got soaked out. I'm thinking about spraying them with starch, just one time, to begin the process of breaking them in. Bad idea? Thoughts?

I have a crush on one of those shirts in particular. I hope I can scrape together the $$ to pick it up before you sell out of my size.

[Quote] RE BSP05 I sized up 1 and after two 45 minute hotsoaks, still thought they were not fitting snug enough. After much angst, I finally soaked a third time and threw the fuckers in the dryer for half an hour on high temp and now they fit pretty well, but if I had to do it again I would definitely get true to size for sure. YMMV. I'm kind of in between sizes at 32.5 and I got a 34. Hopefully they won't stretch in the wrong places or I'll have to shrink them on a regular basis which would suck. They are awesome jeans though.

Looks good, but I think you should have sized down on the helmet. ; )

Hey BlackLike45, thanks for your helpful answers. And yes, of course I know people have lives and participate on forums like this voluntarily. I was just joking. In fact, I have a life too, so beyond doing some due diligence with a search (which I did), I don't have time to read a whole thread of random questions in the hopes that my specific random questions will be answered. Anyhow ty again. Your answers were helpful.

This thread is long on questions and short on answers. I knew I should have asked the magic 8 ball|0

[Quote] ...and the self edge site says size up 1 or 2. Based on my experience, I would not recommend sizing up. I wish I'd gone true to size. I ve managed to shrink the waist snug, but there is excess material in the inner thigh and a little hip flair. I'm bummed. So close to being a beautiful 19cm-like fit, but with better, cooler denim...except for the buzzkilling hip flair. I've done two very hot soaks, the second one for two hours. I even put em in the dryer for a half hour. I wish I could trade these for a size down.
