Is the Streetwear market flooded?

Yes market is flooded and quite frankly streetwear isn't dead, but no one wants to pay retail anymore. Why pay retail when there's sites like Jackthreads, Plndr, Gilt, etc. On top of that, if those places don't have what you're looking for, you can go onto any online shop and they always have some sort of 20% to 40% off sale again. Streetwear is just a shitty industry to be in to be honest.

[Black Scale] - 2010 Official Discussion Thread

Well in reference to small group, I was talking about the Black Scale fam. No offense, but its not mainstream by any means and I think everyone in this thread will agree and one way or the other feel thats why Black Scale is unique because its not for mainstream America. So I was simply saying in a group of 10 people who use to purchase from let's say Citizen for the sake of this argument, I would say at least 5 out of those 10 are now purchasing from the BS Flagship via Online/Phone Orders. So in essence the flagship took 50% of the customer base from Citizen, a BS retailer. I mean this discussion can go back and forth, all day and I totally know what you mean by complainers like the few morons posting in here. With that said, I suppose I just wish both retailers and brands alike good luck and that success and wealth finds both parties in 2010 and onwards into the future.

[Black Scale] - 2010 Official Discussion Thread

Interestingly enough, I still keep in touch with many local retailers around my area, and several have complained that they have no choice but to put Black Scale and other streetwear brands on sale ever since many of these brands have opened their own brick & mortar or online shop. This is because streetwear is still relatively small, particularly a brand such as Black Scale which has a very special and defined customer. You guys by instinct are loyal to black scale and most purchase directly from the Black Scale flagship. This is fine, but retailers are then losing their black scale customers to the brand, which now causes a huge problem. It's no longer a situation where retailers are competing with one another, now its a matter of the retailer competing with the brand itself. Sure you can say its the retailers fault and they should do more marketing etc, but for a brand like Black Scale which pays attention to detail, it does not attract your everyday clientele. The support base is small and loyal, so what is a retailer to do when they start competing with the brands they house. Just some food for thought, I see both sides. If I owned a brand, I would hate for a store to automatically discount my product, but on the same note I would not compete with my supportive retailers. I would sell strictly exclusives out of my store/online shop and then maybe release the current season a month and a half later to give my retailers ample amount of time to sell their product. But then again... thats just my opinion.

Why pay full price if you can get it for half off, you're a fool to not purchase the item on discount. With that said, it's just streetwear... and by wearing and purchasing a brands product regardless of whether or not its on sale or for full pop, you're still supporting the brand nonetheless.

I don't get the whole thing about these price wars, MEGA why don't you just cut the accounts who are discounting your product right away. Why allow stores to degrade your products by having them 40% off right off the bat. Also wasn't the full line just available on Jackthreads?

Release leather jacket and varsity now! I need both lol, whatever doesn't sell, just have the items cross over into the fall line. Tons of brands have their strongest pieces carry over multiple seasons

damn too much good stuff in these gift boxes. I'm contemplating picking up a good 3-4 boxes of $150 each and just buying more 3-4 seasons from now so I'll be good for awhile. I mean there's honestly no point in dropping $35+ for a tee instore or a bill something for denim, if shits being given away like this... I ain't mad though, I'm down for buying boxes with tons of goodies including samples versus individual pieces at retail price.
