So I'm now at four months. Should I give a soak or a wash? This is my first raw denim experience, so I'm unsure.

I was leftist like none other when I was younger, similar to you I think, although I went through the "stage" earlier. By the time I was sixteen or seventeen, I grew out of it. I'm still very liberal, but I'm not necessarily scared of becoming the status quo. Here's the thing about college: college does not doom you to a life of mediocrity. College is, if you find one that fits you, awesome. I have met amazing people, learned from some incredible professors (including a Pulitzer Prize nominee), traveled, partied, found issues and subjects I'm passionate about and channeled all of that into something more than angst. The problem with being young is you tend to think in these boxes, that things can't exist simultaneously. You can play sports, makes music and art, learn, and try new things all at once. The world doesn't exist in these boxes. And going to college doesn't necessarily doom you. I'm studying journalism because I don't want to settle; I want to explore and document the world. Now, I have the education and ability to help me do that. I'm not trying to lecture you or anything, but once you get out of high school, this shit becomes so much more apparent and it's beautiful. Both a progressive and conservative viewpoint can stifle these experiences if you allow yourself to only be in one box. Growing up doesn't mean you have to compromise your beliefs, but don't have a set of beliefs that will make you compromise your life. My .02

[Quote] This is super late but club sports at college are great. You meet cool people, get to travel, continue playing your sport competitively, you also don't have to spend more time than you can commit. I definitely recommend playing a club sport if you have the opportunity.
