[Quote]most of the other shots were generic typical travel photos, but this shot is dope.

[Quote]always been a fan of your digital stuff: some critiques of the film stuff. comp is whatever, but you aren't leveling/toning your photos right. i can tell you are just dragging the blacks down to give the photo contrast, but if you did this on a curve instead your highlights wouldn't be blown. this could also just be a lab thing, like if they bake in a curve on the initial scan. basically, your killing some of the tonal range you have in your pictures.

[Image] couldn't decide between 2/3 so ended up doing them both. they both have their merits. all handheld mamiya 7 portra 400

[Quote]this some tight true detective ish. done very well but i could have done without the remnant stuff on the top of the frame. i know there is the factor of "staying true to the picture" but i think if you thought about what you were trying to do with this shot you would agree that the top stuff is extraneous.

every time i go to a newsstand in barnes and noble or whatever your equivalent is, i always feel completely lost when it comes to photo journals. are any of them worth looking at?

im officially caught up and scanned all of the film that i have and put out the stuff that i like from it. i just recently shot a wedding kind of, and am actually kind of stoked for those shots, because i've learned that i don't like shooting landscapes. these are what i liked from my time in california in september. the best - avid if you want to use the best editing program, get good with avid. this also makes you more hire-able if you are trying to get into a pro editing gig. most movies are cut on avid. for basic stuff though, this is total overkill. ahead of the game - premiere premiere used to be behind final cut in terms or features and such, but has since, imo, far surpassed fcp7 and continues to be improved religiously. not to mention the amazing roundtrip workflow with the rest of the programs in the adobe suite. like being able to have photoshop, after effects, and premiere all open at the same time and save an edit in photoshop, and then watch that propagate all the way to premiere is wonderful. not to mention great cine-x integration. honestly this platform is amazing. the game - final cut fcp 7 used to be the shit until premiere arrived. the big shift happened during the middle of the dslr revelation. people were getting cameras that were shooting footage but had no idea what transcoding was, so premiere took the opportunity to basically sell their product as a "it just works!" option, but, as i stated before, has come a long way from that and continually improves the product. however, many companies still religiously stick to fcp 7, and i think it's honestly just because it's what they know and they have learned to live with it's quirks and oddities. i don't want to work with these people, but it's up to you. either learn something old like fcp 7 or learn something new and improving like premiere or avidĀ (sorry guys, fcpx isn't going to change anything).

yo that first video is pretty bad. you set the camera on a tripod and just filmed that dude straight for like two minutes. i'd try to give you a critique but you like didn't even try. also, railroads? seriously? that's bad-senior-picture tier.
