Cantopop star Shawn Yue is better known in international streetwear circles for his MADNESS label, which he continued to expand with aplomb throughout 2016. Most notably, Yue oversaw a pop-up store in Taipei to celebrate the brand’s second anniversary, as well as the opening of the first MADNESS boutique in Beijing in October. In terms of collaborations, Yue connected with NEIGHBORHOOD’s Shinsuke Takizawa for a major military-influenced collection, while in September fellow pop superstar and PHANTACi founder Jay Chou also linked up with Yue for a capsule between their respective fashion labels. Carhartt also announced a collaboration with MADNESS towards the end of October, following up on their first joint collection in 2015. Meanwhile, Yue made inroads into the burgeoning women’s streetwear market with the launch of the MADGIRL label in April. Given his unstoppable pace in 2016, look for Yue to hit even more milestones in the coming year.
