Cheap hotels/motels/hostels in the LA area. (new question)

Traveling to LA in one week, don't have a place to stay. I've looked up places online but feel there is cheaper/local stuff out there.

Not really looking for downtown LA, something north of the city. Burbank/Glendale/Pasadena area. I have pretty much no money. There are places around here called Value Place that are around $200 a week. Looking for real cheap weekly rates such as that. Not looking to share a dorm style room in a hostel, I like a little privacy. Any info?

too expensive. the people out here in LA that look broke and make you think "hmm i could do this.." are on welfare and in rent controlled areas. if you're a normal person with no monetary backing, LA is NOT for you. and from what i can deduce from your pics, you wouldn't thrive in a low income part of LA.

Try Sherman Oaks. Only part of the Valley that allows easy access to West LA, especially the Fairfax area and the Sunset Strip. Very affordable too. Don't rent in West Hollywood or Santa Monica. Not worth the cost. Also, don't expect that "party like a rockstar" life unless you're making at least 70K.. Also remember that people in Los Angeles (including the white yuppies like you that come out from all over the Midwest and the C-list celebrities that show up at the same somewhat upscale clubs) are very shallow and superficial. American or Japanese sedans won't cut it for the bitches out here. Cabs are your best friend. Just get 'em drunk while wearing dat Lacoste, take the yellow whip with black and white checkers back to the pad and smash. When they wake up, throw 'em bus fare. You'll never see them again, but do you want to?

If you're smart about how you want to be perceived, you can pull off that "Sex In The City" lifestyle for a few years.

The district manager for my congressman, this chill ass 6' 4'' Persian Jew, lives and works in Sherman Oaks and brags about having gone in on Nicole Sheridan. I'm so inclined to believe him, as deceitful as it may sound.

sherman oaks is pretty expensive, unless you live past van nuys. if you were to live in LA under your circum stances, i would say live somewhere past reseda blvd and ventura. its not as expensive, its pretty nice, and its not too far away from "la".

Go to Colorado. I don't know much about Colorado's economy, but Cali isn't the place to be right now and if I wasn't already planted here I probably wouldn't be here.

All the more affordable places near LA, "near" LA are a ways away. Like someone mentioned AV, it is very affordable, but the drive into LA sucks and it really isn't all that close. Plus, I don't know what your work situation is, if you would have something lined up with someone you know or not or if you're depending on trying to find a job on your own. If the latter, once again let me stress how bad our economy sucks.

Fuck LA. Come down to 714/OC, way more affordable and only 30~40 minutes from LA.

Try looking for an apartment in HB/FV/Costa Mesa/Tustin, all nice affordable areas that AREN'T ghetto as fuck.

If you have a roomate and do your research you can find a reasonable 2 bedroom from anywhere to $600-800 a piece. Los Feliz is nice and very close to down town.

$13 a night?! $100 a week?! This seems way too good to be true. I heard it's hard to find a room for under $100 a night. This is at Knights Inn in Pico Rivera. Is that a bad place?

Badass. Went ahead and reserved it. I honestly don't need anything more than a bed to sleep on. I probably won't spend much time at all there, except for when I get back to crash/pass out. I was contemplating just sleeping in the backseat of my rental car for 2 weeks. But for this cheap, I think I can deal.
