I'm planning on putting a SSD in my laptop and keeping the current HDD as storage, I want to run both OSs off of the SSD and have everything stored on the HDD.

The OSs will be OS X and Win 7/8

has anyone done something like this or have any suggestions on how to do this?

Never did it on a laptop but I have done this on my desktop, but you
need a CPU that support SSE 2 and get as many different Mac OSx86
distribution as possible, you will find them useful during the process
of installing.

Men formal shirts are fine for any occasion.

If you partition it, it will read like two HDDs, so i don't see why it wouldn't work. I have Ubuntu 12.10 and W7 running off the same HDD, ext4 and NTFS formats.

Don't use W8. And if you're using OSX, what is the reason for Windows? Games? I always say OSX/W7 with a Linux distro is the best dual boot setup.
