Whats a good all purpose lens for a canon?

I currently have a rebel t3i with a 40mm and a telephoto. But I would like to get a lens that has the same range as a kit lens but not the quality of it.

Fuck zoom lenses, get a 35 or 50mm f1.4-2 and you're set.

I guess you're looking for the 17-55mm f/2.8 IS

I'd agree to fuck a zoom and get a decent wideangle prime.

Copped a Sigma 20mm f/1.8 years ago because I can't afford the 24mm 1/4L and it's always the lens I own the longest and I'm buying and selling constantly

I think the 50mm is a must, it's a cheap lens, but you get the most bang for your buck. Its currently on sale right now, not sure if I'm allowed to post the hyperlink tho.

the best all purpose canon lens for a aps-c DSLR is a 17-55f/2.8 or if that is out of your budget get the Tamron 17-50f/2.8 VC or if you want something on the long end I heard Canon's 18-135 lens is pretty good. It is a kit lens but it's still pretty sharp
