Cases for anything are ridiculous for the average user. Unless you're in heavy industries or construction, you don't really need protection, you need common sense.

didn't have a problem with my old macbook 13" plastic, didn't have a problem with my 13" MBP intel core 2 duo, don't have any problems with my i7 macbook retina

after using each of my previous laptops for about 2 years, i sold them for only a few hundred less than i paid, windows laptop on that

I have had a 15 inch macbook pro for 3 years now. I can honestly say that I have had no problems at all. I highly recommend buying one

just bought a macbook last sunday and have had it for about 5 days. I like it; it's alot different with the interface and keyboard shortcuts. It takes time to get use to, but after a couple days you'll develop a liking for it. Honestly, I've been using only pc's in the past and I could honestly not really care between a mac or a pc. Invest in a computer that has everything you need.However the plus on the mac is you can run both pc and mac easily, and the design of a macbook is so beautiful.

I bought a Macbook Pro in 2007 and am still very happy with it. I replaced the original HDD with an SSD and must say the spped bump was very impressive. Mountain Lion and all apps run smoothly on it. I guess I will kepp it till it dies... Or till the next generation of Macbook airs come out. I really like them but I just don't like the big beazel around the screen...

trying to cop a macbook pro for christmas or black friday

why the new retina version not have a DVD drive or anything da fuq?

this is my plan:

purchase a refurb or some discount macbook pro non retina most likely 13 incher but will go to a store and see if i like the 15 inch

then upgrade ram to 16 gb
SSD haddrive

profit?

sound like a good plan ma nigs?

Hmmm idk about 32gb maybe in the 15" or the old 17", I don't think the 13" will handle 32gb but I never looked into it.

check through the MacRumors Forums, theres quite a bit of people who have done it. You'll notice faster speeds with the SSD than you will with the RAM

Load and boot times on an SSD is so much quicker. Worth it man

not interested in retina
looking at a late-2011 MD322LL/A
2.5ghz i7, 15.4 matte high resolution screen
8gb 1333mhz ram
750gb hdd for basically $1500
used

or
brand new 13.3" mbp MD102LL/A the high end version


I would eventually play video games on it but screen size ain't a major deal for me.
mainly looking at specs quad core + gpu

I've really had one laptop (dell) and it's been alright for the 3 years i've had it but needs a new battery which i don't feel like replacing and has other problems but it's my first.. I've been thinking about trying out a macbook pro. Mostly i just browse the internet a lot, watch vids/movies, listen to/download music and movies. Mostly watch movies from my laptop via hdmi and if i'm not mistaken, macbooks don't have an hdmi port? I also like customization and sort of like the aesthetic of apple. Been lookin on craigslist for macbook pros recently. Just wanted to get an opinion on what i should do or what i should purchase. as far as gb, RAM, and all that techinical shit goes.. Appreciate any info
