how to post pictures from your computer onto a thread?

whenever i press the picture icon to downloads a picture it comes up with a box asking for a link starting with 'http//' i basically just wanna put pictures on from my computer, how do i do this?

upload the pics from your desktop to photobucket or flickr, and use the url provided there to paste on forum threads.
