Nikon D5000 is easy to use. Head to your local Target and mess with one.

For an entry-level DSLR depending on what brand of camera you're looking to go for I'd say a Nikon D3000 or D5000 or a Canon T2i. Both for pretty decent prices and easy to use like you said.

To be honest, go with the brand most of your friends have. I shoot with canon so i would reccomend a t3i or t2i to begin with...

Sony is cool and all but if you really want to shoot video, go with a Canon. Plus you're going to want to be shooting with manual focus.

Canon t3i or t2i would be the perfect option or a d60/d40 for nikon. Both are great options but my preference is canon.

best camera in the 700-1100 range is cannon eos t2i & t3i. best quality unless you plan on spending 1200+
