This is just a guess but I would imagine with the Apple vs Samsung lawsuits concluding, an Apple vs Google legal battle might happen in the near future. I don't know enough about the specific details of the lawsuits but it sounds like Apple was contesting attributes of both the Samsung hardware as well as android software. If they are gearing up for a battle with Google, they will probably want to become as independent from all Google software as possible in the meantime. Since they have the resources to create their own maps, they probably figured it would be a worthwhile long term investment.

what cases are you guys getting for the 5? mine just came in today, im looking for one that takes as little away from the design as possible but still gives decent protection.

im hearing that with most cases (not the thick ass construction worker cases) it adds so little thickness its about the size of the iphone 4/4s without a case.
I'm hoping Apple puts out bumpers again for the 5

of course they will. $30 for a piece of rubber that costs $.05 ... its a no brainer
