i'm about your size. 6'1", size 12 shoes, 160 lbs.....for me i rock a 7.6" because i grew up with alien workshop boards where riders like Josh Kalis would even have 7.4" sig models released. for me, i felt like i could flip the boards a lot easier the skinnier they were.

what's your shoe size is a better question??? i like riding big boards. i'm a size 8.5-9 and I ride 8.25" boards, but that's me. small boards are weird and awkward.

I wouldn't start at a 7.5, well actually I did but I wouldn't recommend it. If you can get down to a shop and just see what feels right. Just put a deck on the floor and stand on it.

Size is strictly a matter of personal preference. However, if you're 6 foot, then I'd recommend AT LEAST an 8, maybe 8.125 or 8.25. I'm 6'1" and ride 8.5s, but those might be a little big to learn basics on.

Skate Warehouse is a pretty good place to order boards from. Check out Anti-Hero, Krooked, and Real boards, they're arguably the best quality you can buy.

No problem, if you need help with anything else, don't be afraid to post. Do you know how to pick the other parts of a board out?

Yeah if you didn't already know make sure you're trucks are sorta the right size for the deck, I mean you don't wanna be putting indy 149's on a 7.6 or something.

Yeah, don't order any of their premade completes (that goes for every site/shop). They usually just use cheap/shitty parts. You can make your own custom complete and they'll make it for you, that's fine.

Alright, so for trucks, you're gonna want to get within 0.25" of your deck size. I'm just going to assume you're getting an 8, so you want a truck that's 7.75-8.25. Independent 139s (8 inches wide) are going to last you forever and they're really good too; I personally ride 149s which are just bigger. Thunder trucks are also quality as well. If you get them, be sure to get the 147s (8 inch, slightly different measurement than Independent). You can pick between high and lows for Thunders, lows provide a little more control, while highs provide a little more pop when doing tricks. I'd personally just go Indys.

Wheels are personal preference, I'd recommend 51-52s, middle of the road. Spitfire and Bones make good wheels so just find something that's within your price range from those two brands and you should be great.

For bearings, Bones Reds. Period. There are better bearings, but they're like 3x the price.

Hardware, just get the cheapest. More or less, it's all the same. 1" should go with everything.

You don't need risers but some places make you get them when you order a complete. Just tell them you don't want them on.

Jessup, Mob, and Black Magic are the three major griptape companies, usually you get Jessup for free with most boards online (make sure to check though, some places don't give you anything) and it works. If you're ordering from Skate Warehouse, they'll hook you up with this no name griptape called True Grit and it's actually pretty good so that'll be fine.

Idk bout ya'll but whenever I feel boards on the ground without the trucks, the size always seems different from when I actually put them on. And no matter what size deck I get I usually adjust to it within a week or two of skating.

Anti-Hero, Real, Krooked in the size you like. I think the smallest they make is 7.75 so that would be a good choice to get if you're into 7.5 and want to size up.

I'm About 5'7" and I Ride 7.8's . It's All About The Preference That You Develop After Riding For A While (Years) .

Then You'll Learn About Concave and Wheel Base and Differences Between The Wood Each Brand Uses .

For Right Now I Have A :

7.81 Real Torres Deck Soon To Be Swapped With a 7.8 Girl That I Just Bought The Other Day .
52mm Marc Johnson Spitfire Wheels
Independent Truck 7.75 (I like my trucks a little bit smaller than the board)
And I wear a Size 9.5/10 Shoe .

After A While You'll Get The Hang Of Different Products and You'll Hear Different Feedback From Other Skaters and You'll Know What You'll Want . I Learned This After My Third Or Fourth Board .

i'm thinking of gettin an 8, but i've never skated a board that wide. you think flipping it would be a big change from a 7.5? idk if 7.75 would be a big difference cus that's only 1/4 of an inch so idk if i'd even be able to tell the difference because honestly i'm not even comfortable on a 7.5 anymore.
