Schmeichel was poor when he started out. I'm not saying De Gea will ever be as great as Schmeichel, only time will tell, but to say he will never be good is a stupid assumption.

...he's only 21. He'll need time to fully adjust to the English game/level of play, and his own team. I think he'll get better and be a good EPL keeper, but I don't think he's going to reach the level United needs him to for a title run this season. Lindegaard seems like the better option right now.

Anyway, fuck all these deep, rich ass teams. Sunderland cool

I give the man 3 years until he's taken Sunderland to challenge for Europa League or Champions League spots in the Prem just like he was doing with Villa until $hitty flashed the cash at Barry and Milner. Like the year Barry and Milner left Aston Villa finished 6th and were 10 points of CL spots, and shitty finished 10th. Milner and Barry are money grubbing bitches.

yeah, marginally off and the side ref was out of position. Considering the defender was running at goal and Ji was coming back to the ball, it's understandable, and it doesn't really make a difference... it was 1v1 anyway.

De Gea needs to improve greatly. He's young but Iindegaard should have been Fergie's first choice from jump. He by far the better keeper at this point. I guess when you sped that much on a keeper you have no choice but to play him from the start

This is ridiculous. Why should Lindegaard have been first choice from the start? De Gea had played almost 60 games in one of the best leagues in the world compared to Lindegaard's career in Norway and Denmark where the standard of football is obviously nowhere near as good as La Liga, not to mention that Lindegaard's United appearances have come against teams that are mostly average at best.

You have to play him from the start because dropping him won't do him any good, certainly not for his confidence, not because we paid so much for him.

It doesn't matter where he's from. Being from a less competitive league doesn't necessarily make him worse than De Gea because he's from La Liga. Sure, most of his appearances have come against weaker teams but he has performed well in every one of them, especially that away match against Benfica in the CL. De Gea has made mistakes against big, and small teams.

I think we can spring a shock result. Maybe 2-1 provided we play well defensively, and Fergie doesn't start with a fucking 4-4-2 formation. I hope he treats it like an away CL tie. Plus Kolo and Yaya Toure off to African Cup of Nations, so that's a slight positive.
