just got a bianchi timberwolf complete for free. too bad it has a vertical drop.

if you're looking to do a conversion, stop looking at mountain bikes and start looking for horizontal dropout road frames. most have vertical dropouts and make fugly ass conversions.

^ i can't imagine this as a fixed

Yeah. Some girl ran into the street right in front of me, and in a panic I swerved around her and ended up hitting the back of that car, flying through its rear windshield. I don't remember it happening, but a good friend of mine was biking with me and saw the whole thing.

they're OK for the price. i guess if you want to make a beater or something then they're good for that. i wouldn't recommend them. not very well made, kinda creaky. razz i do like the carbon track fork tho.

also leader's customer service isn't very good. they gave me a deal on that frame but it wasn't really a deal. long story that i doubt anyone wants to hear.

basically i'm just upgrading every part on it so i can hopefully buy a blaphard frame this summer.

Word. I was thinking about them because of the aluminum frame, figuring it'd be a nice upgrade from my steel frame. I guess I'll wait and get somethin' nicer though.

I never wore a helmet until I got into that accident. Now it's always on me when I ride.

aluminum is not an upgrade from a steel frame. aluminum is actually a harsher ride than steel when ridden on the street; you feel the cracks and bumps in the road a lot more.

I use 48/18, but I'm a bit weak. Sometimes I'd like a slightly higher gearing for speed, but what I'm running now is good for accelerating and works well with my strength. Skids are easy on it too.

48/16. i really have to shift forward to skid without foot retention. im getting a 17t cog soon. other than more skid patches, does it make that much of a difference?

yeah, one tooth is huge.

I occasionally run 48/19t, I don't have to get out of the saddle to skid.
