Any day now I think, more towards the end of the month. Apparently there are already over 2500 pre-orders for the States alone, shit's mental.

On another note, I just scored a front Aerospoke for a ridiculously cheap price, stoked.

Has anyone ordered from bikesdirect.com ? Are they reputable? I was looking into getting a mercier kilo TT and the price is right on the website but its kind of too good to be true.

yeah, they're legit. i wouldn't count on thinking a mercer kilo is a 700 dollar bike though...

you can get the tt for about 300 if you get it at its cheapest and in your size.

jacob, the h+son is difficult to get for cheap due to no distro in the usa. its direct is 80+ship from china, some places on eBay are going for about 115/120+15~ for just the rim.

booduh/tim, your fuji is well, minus use/abuse a lilsmile holding up well. might be replaced for a dirt cheap concept;)

and for the stopping debate: be aware. don't trust cars and peoples judgements. trust yourself. skip-stops are fastest probably to stop, but lil tough imo. and worst case scenario -> fred flintstone leg stop or bail out. you life > bike smile

but practice and experience is best to stop and judge where you at. like jan said, skids don't mean shit. i haven't had a flat tire for about a 6+months and on an everwear with 3 skid patches.

ha, the dude said he could have brought it back to the cities (1.5 hours) that weekend and sold it for $250 easy but it was not worth the hassle. so i guess i lucked out.

wheres a good place online to order handlebars/grips?

Hey you guys,

Brand new to the fixed gear bikes and was wondering what you guys suggest as a first bike. I looked into the Mercier Kilo TT but couldn't find it anywhere.(sold out on bikesdirect.com) I was also looking into a bike on nashbar.com. Anyone purchase a bike on nashbar? Thanks in advance for your help.

Just added the brake from my broken Lo Pro as I've had a couple of scary incidents following both my girlfriend and my housemate, who both ride erratically. I still haven't used it though and will probably take it off again.

This is my finished 'proper' bike. I say 'proper' because my Lo Pro is like a child's toy. This my friends is a classic bicycle, something I don't see enough from you guys in the states. Step your game up with the steel, it's not all about flips and tricks.

does anyone on here ride a fuji track comp? I'm thinking about changing frames b/c I think a slightly smaller frame would make my life a little bit easier. I have really short legs but I'm 6 foot tall. I can't bring myself to buy a fuji track pro, just too much money for it new.

i think the comp is more of for the people that didn't want as heavy track setup without the seatpost integration.

only noticeable part spec difference is the tires/hubs/"seatpost"/crackset.......
comp is lighter than pro.

personally, i say go with the comp.

Not fixed gear this time around, but I wanted to post it anyway.

Scored this PSV-10 the other day. Extremely light steel frame with Super Vitus 980 tubing. Going to restore it into a road racer

a few of my friends are also into fixies and i just get my parts from them.

they get them from a forum called chifg.com and just pick up stuff locally. Yojimbo's is a nice store, too. or you can use Clist...

i suggest that you dont buy things brand new.

there was also some kind of thing i think that was called the veloswap today in chicago.

Anyone know of sites or forums I can look at to get into this scene. I need some type of outdoorsy hobby to keep me in shape and getting a fixed gear would be awesome. The only thing is, I live in bumfuck Georgia and there isn't to much of a scene, or one that I know of around my area.

Green machine is so played out !
Everybody has a green mercier, and i can get a deal on powdercoating.

Also , how would i go about painting the walls of my rims, even from minimal use of my brake, the walls are smearing and chipped.
Could i just get some angelus and do it myself?
