It is the same as a Mercier Kilo TT. I suggest you get that instead for your first bike and save some money.

Yeah, I was looking for one of those, but I'd have to purchase online, and pay taxes and shipping fees because I'm in Canada...

I found a local 2010 flite 100 in my size for $500 online, used for under 10kms... so I was thinking of picking that up.

I got a 2007 Specialized Allez Elite off of ebay for $350. Needless to say that was a hell of a find but if you troll ebay enough you're bound to find a deal similar.

Just picked up a used KHS Flite 100 for a pretty good price online... pretty excited about it, but the weather lately has been MAD cold.. I'm thinking I need to put on a front brake just in case, cause I'm a total noob when it comes to riding a fixed gear bike, and I've never even attempted at a skid stop. The next decent weather we have, I'm going to go out and try to nail the skid.

Can anyone help me with some techniques? I know the basics from watching videos and whatnot.. but just little tips and tricks.

Also, is there anything on the bike that I need to replace? I've heard that the wheels and pedals aren't too good, but since I'm so new I don't think replacing them would make that much of a difference.

Any help is appreciated.. thanks!

Nah, you alright with the current set up. The gearing ratio is an easier cheaper adjustment if you want to skid easier. Since you've watched vids and such, I will skip the basics. Tips such as getting your weight forward is one, as well as pulling up with the feet up against your cages as well. Start with little skids to get the feel of reverse resistance. Practice with one side at the same point since you will probably be dominant one side more than the other. Practice track stands as well starting out.

Your local Craigslist should have many fixed gear bikes. Just make sure what brands to look for. Otherwise, http://www.bikesdirect.com
