lol @ espn "Lakers willing to trade for Dwight Howard and Chris Paul."

...along with any other team who might like the best PG and C in the league. Too bad the Lakers don't have the pieces to trade for either one of them, much less both.

^Nah. The names getting thrown around are expensive and aging quickly (Gasol, Odom) or broken and immature (Bynum). If either NOH or ORL trade their centerpiece stars, they instantly go into rebuilding mode. Rebuilding teams don't need old, costly players. Not to mention those teams are only going to get two of those Lakers, and that is not equal to losing a player who is the best at their position.

That's the problem with ESPN, they act like everyone is going to bow down to LAL and give them whatever they want and take garbage in return. The value of most Lakers is inflated because they are a part of that collective team, and have had Kobe and Phil. Take two of em and put them on another team, and they will quickly look very fucking average. NBA GMs are well aware of that.

yea espn doing constant headlines along the lines of "can the lakers land both dwight and cp3?" or "lakers are interested in landing not only one, but both dwight and cp3" yet every espn analyst is saying its basically impossible for them to get both, and many of them are saying they arent the front runner to land either individually. its all about headlines.

depends. if warriors lose out on chandler, which seems likely, they have no shot at paul. if that's the case, expect monta to be placed on the trading block for someone with some size and defense (iggy is the first person that comes to mind)

"The Hornets are expected to get Lamar Odom, Kevin Martin, Luis Scola and Goran Dragic, while the Rockets get Pau Gasol. This is a major coup for the Lakers, who now have an All-Universe backcourt and managed to land CP3 without losing Bynum, the likely centerpiece of an offer for Dwight Howard"

Do they still try for Dwight??

So Lakers fans are ecstatic, could someone explain why? When has a backcourt ever won a championship? You guys just traded away 2 of your 3 biggest players and the only one left is seriously injury prone. Meanwhile the Knicks are only a decent point guard away from having the best starting 5 in the league.

Oh and don't tell me Dwight for Bynum. It's gonna take a helluva lot more than Bynum to get the best center in the league.

Lakers just made their team worse if they don't land Howard. (which is most likely not gonna happen)

You're gonna play a condensed schedule with absolutely no bench, and probably Carracter as the starting PF? Weaksauce Bynum as the 3rd key piece? Rofl. They're not gonna beat OKC.

Knicks are rumored to land Tyson Chandler, and they'll make a push to get Deron Williams next offseason and it's GG for the rest of the league. cool

knicks are pretty much guaranteed chandler. if that's the case, all we need is a half decent pg and we run the league

it's not gonna be deron though, too much money

Lakers cannot get Bynum now. They're going for Okafor. Anyways. Howard would be too much. But right now LA's pretty much even playing field with Miami. I guess we'll get that LEBRON/KOBE finals we always wanted.
