Let's talk about this fucking team.

Game tonight against Guadeloupe, which has basically become a "must win" in order to be assured to move on in the Gold Cup after a shit showing against Panama (for which I was in attendance). Bob UMMM Bradley will probably field the same team as the last 3 games, even though this lineup clearly lacks energy.

Thoughts?

Huge lack of quality strikers. Altidore fell off, Wondolowski is garbage, Edson Buddle isn't on this team ( ? )

Dempsey basically has to play in the middle of the field, attacking role all the time or we'll never score.

Defense is a joke lately, Ream/Goodson are garbage. And Cherundolo is ok but cannot cross a ball into the box to save his life.

Bedoya and some of the other young guys seem promising though. We should've beaten Panama too.

I think anyone who is somewhat knowledgeable about soccer and this team knows Bob needs to go. He just does not know how to pick an effective lineup. He's trying to get this team to play Barca's style, but this team simply does not have anything close to that level of skill, nor do the players spend enough time together to master it as a unit. One of the only successes you can point to during Bob's reign is a few examples of player development, but most of that is probably coming from club teams and position coaches. You can't even say he's a great motivator, because for half of each Gold Cup game so far, the team has come out flat (a trend that is carrying over from the World Cup). We're at a point where some of the best talent the US has ever had is in it's prime, but is being led by a guy who can't harness it. That's disappointing.

The thing is, we have seen what Jozy is capable of, and it's top class (see goal vs. Spain, goal tonight vs. Guadeloupe). But he's just so extremely inconsistent.

I think there's some hope on defense. Ream can be a distributor from the back, Goodson has great size, and the youth system is currently producing some great talent. However, it all needs to be well trained before it can compete on an international level. The brightest spot at this point seems to be Timmy Chandler. If he progresses as he is now, he will be the starting wing back in no time.

I think the whole team needs to be revamped started with the managers. I was embarrassed to be wearing my USA jersey the other day. We played like total crap. Thankfully I'm hispanic so I can at least wear my Mexico jersey. Also, Altidore is so over hyped. He hasn't been consistent at all. I just think if he went to a good club team somewhere we could get the best out of him. Dempsey has one of the best seasons he's had in the EPL.. I wonder why he's not using that momentum for internationals. I think he should be up top anyways, don't understand why he's a midfielder.

Lol. Repeat of 2009 at the Confederation Cup. Remember when the US was ahead 2 goals of Brasil and then choked? Same thing against Mexico.
Still, I hate Mexico. US should have won this, but I blame it all on the Defense. Defense will never be great for the US, but there's hope in attacking. Dempsey and Donovan are still top players even if they are getting old, and Bradley seems to be getting better every year. Altidore, he just needs to practice more. He's athletic, but it doesn't seem he has the natural skills that most top strikers have. He's young though, so he has time to develop into a great player. Adu on the other hand, I don't think he deserves to be on the national team.
