These two are fuckin sick! I've been debating on what color to powder coat my 97 Performer up at the top?!? I'm thinking maybe a purple/yellow or like a teal/white... or who knows!

Got any parts for sale or anything!?? Are you on BMX MUSEUM too??

Cool thread idea. This past summer I looked for an older bmx bike so I could simply start riding bikes again and maybe eventually get into actual bmx stuff like tricks etc. Found some cool older GT bikes on craigslist like you guys posted, but ended up getting this instead:

It's an older mongoose from before the company was bought out, so it's not shitty quality like what you'd get nowadays. Perfect condition even though it's almost 10 years old, and it was only $60. Can't wait for spring so I can bring it to campus and start riding again.

And yes, I know the handbrake doesn't make it great for tricks obviously, but I'm still not close to doing any barspins lol.

That chrome on your Mongoose looks CLEAN AS HELL!!! I use Mother's polish (found at Autozone, etc), to keep chrome super clean.

I just picked up an '85 GT Performer frame with '91 forks from some dude in Ontario for $70!!
Chrome is pretty good and very minimal rust, except for some near the dropouts and at the base of the seat post slot.
I'm thinking about going all white with some red SKYWAY rims I have...

$70 bucks for a performer frame and fork? Damn thats a sick deal man and it's in good condition,it'd be a nice restoration project.
Do you know if mother's polish would work good for rims with brakes? im thinking about trying it since i've always used windex to clean my rims

If youre looking for some old school type of bikes like the ones posted here, its gonna cost you at least a couple hundo'... check out BMX Museum.com ,I frequent that site and theres dudes on there selling bikes all the time.

Updated with a new chainwheel.. my old pegs back on.. re-made Dominator seat.. '87 MX901 brake (sucks though).
I got some matching teal brake line cover that I need to put and I also put on some whitewalls.. need to get those pics uploaded.

Could someone recommend me a great bike, that's durable, comfortable and smooth riding BMX bike? Also that's a bit "stylish". Range is 150-275, but I could try for 300.

Thats my rider.. Its a '97 Performer with re-created custom '87 decals. This dude I came across has been making decal re-creations for all kinds of old school bikes for years. They look pretty damn close to the real thing.
I actually tried the gumwall tires, and it didnt go with the bike at all. The whitewall freestyle tires went much better.
