martinez is a horrible style matchup for pacquiao. he presents an even larger size threat than margarito and to top it off he's a very mobile, fast punching natural junior middleweight with magnificent stamina and resiliency that mirror's manny. he isn't gonna be waltzing straight into manny's fire power the way margarito did; those type of fighters make the little guy look godly despite any size advantage. keep in mind that the one and only clean body shot margarito landed in the fight (during the 6th round i believe) nearly crumbled manny and he had to be hospitalized for that...just one clean punch from a dude as slow as molasses.
if this fight happens he's gonna force martinez to kill himself at the scales at yet another stupid fuckin' catchweight.
Roach and manny aren't dumb. If they're gonna accept a fight w a bigger guy then odds are its gonna be a slow boxer and they're gonna set a catchweight that will most likely drain the opposing boxer and allow manny to fight at a comfortable weight where he can still box with speed. then once the fight happens they're gonna emphasize the size difference like they did w margarito knowing that size and power advantages mean nothing when the guy can't land punches against a faster fighter.
Yeah Martinez said he can make 156 or 157 no problem, in the post fight interview. He just kept repeatedly said he'll "wait for offers.."... guy just wants to get paid, thats not asking much?!
