To be honest he'll only go to United or Chelsea. He's a good manager but his teams don't really play football the proper way
June 05, 2010 @ 13:02:52
^And what is the "right" way to play football?
June 07, 2010 @ 15:46:57
well u can make a case for mourinho not playing the "proper way" bc when he managed chelsea they were one of the most unattractive teams in the league in terms of style and panache. he wants a team with a rich history.

itll b Liverpool or United.

he will never go back to chelsea he wants to destroy them he has stated that publicly

No Longer a Barca player. Pique will never be better than Marquez.

12 titles w/ Barca. Sad to see him head to a weak league like the MLS...

If Barca wants another Rafa w/ those sweet long passes

Red Bull New York announced today that it has signed former FC Barcelona star and Mexican National Team captain Rafael Marquez to a multi-year contract as the club’s third Designated Player. Marquez will be unveiled to members of the media at a press conference Tuesday, Aug. 3 at Red Bull Arena at 1:15 PM ET.

“Rafael has shown on the club and international level that he is one of the world’s top players,” said Dietmar Beiersdorfer, Head of Red Bull Global Soccer. “He has been a winner at all levels and illustrated that he is a leader both on and off the field. We are thrilled that he decided to come to the Red Bulls at this time in his career.”

“I am excited to be joining the Red Bulls,” Marquez said. “Despite having the opportunity to fulfill my contract with Barcelona, coming to New York and playing in Major League Soccer was a chance that I could not refuse. I am completely committed to doing my very best to help the Red Bulls in their playoff push this year and compete for championships in the years to come.”

Internationally, Marquez has appeared for Mexico 94 times, and has captained the team since the 2002 FIFA World Cup. With Mexico, Marquez has won the 1999 Confederations Cup and the 2003 Gold Cup, and has led Mexico out of the first round in his three World Cup appearances. In the 2006 World Cup, Marquez netted a goal in Mexico’s second round match against Argentina and in 2010, he scored in the tournament’s opening match to draw host, South Africa.

Marquez spent the last seven seasons of his club career at storied Catalan side, FC Barcelona. He was a part of four La Liga-winning Barcelona teams (2005, 2006, 2009 and 2010). In 2006, Marquez helped Barcelona win the UEFA Champions League title, appearing eight times in the competition, including in the final, where Barcelona beat Arsenal, 2-1. With the victory, Marquez became the first Mexican player to ever win the UEFA Champions League. He was also a member of Barcelona’s 2008-09 squad that won an unprecedented six championships, as he took home the UEFA Champions League title for the second time of his career.

Prior to joining Barcelona, Marquez played for AS Monaco from 1999-2003, where he became one of the most highly touted young players in world soccer. Marquez helped his club win the Ligue 1 title in his first season and was the Ligue 1 Best Defender in 2000. The 31-year-old started his professional career at Mexican club Atlas, where he debuted in 1996 at just 17 years of age.

^No way, last year Inter under Mourinho dominated everyone including Barcelona, the year before that fair enough Barca were the best team, but the year before that it was United that were the best team in the world. And I'm not just going on who won the champions League in each of those years, but the teams all had to play tough teams in their Champions League routes and they all dominated their own respective leagues so it's fair to say that each was the best in those years.

So basically, hands down, no.

out of the 4 meetings barcelona had with inter during 09/10, barcelona went 2-1-1. inter didn't dominate barca.

It can't be much fun being a Barca fan...

But out of the two that mattered, Inter tactically destroyed Barca, which can't be denied.

i didn't know group stage matches didn't matter.

if you remember, when barcelona played inter milan in the group stages (first match), inter came out to play ball with barca but got dominated. jmo switched it up to parking the bus (smart move) and won 1 game.
November 30, 2010 @ 17:11:26
You know what I mean when I say the games that mattered. In the big matches Jose and Inter stepped it up and outplayed/out-thought Barca, same goes with the matches against Chelsea and Bayern.
November 30, 2010 @ 20:13:03
i like barca
November 30, 2010 @ 20:24:28
yeah, if packing the Inter team bus inside the 18 the last 25 minutes is "outplaying". I'm so glad Jose and Real Madrid lost, I hate Jose's boring style of football.
