i agree.. it's a mindset.. but.. it still goes back to the clothes you're wearing.

there's still a difference between someone wearing Polo/RL/Rugby/JCrew vs. someone who wears A&F/AE/Hollister.

To me, personally (and even having worked for A&F for over 2 years in the past).. this isn't preppy.





But this.. is. (it's preppy with a bit of an edge to it and a hell of a lot more of the person's own personal style/touch is shown.)




yes, there's "aspects" of preppy within A&F and all those types of brands but just because you're wearing a polo or a woven shirt, doesn't neccesarily make you preppy.

all just my personal opinion, i would think some people agree with me.


Not to SON you Frankie boy but do your research on A&F before you compare them to RL/Polo/RRL/EG/etc.

If you didn't know A&F has been around since 1892 is was the staple of Americana, workwear and field and stream, such as the likes of Filson, EG, Levi, J.Crew, Banana Republic, Woolrich, etc. The company started in NYC then bought out a few outdoorsish retailers and opened up shop in Chicago. Then they started to sell in Sears Roebuck, Penneys, Wards and through written publication as well as radio ads but never went full boat like they are now.

In the 70's-80's the brand pretty much was non existent due to bankruptcy. Then a big company bought the name rights and started it all up again into the monster it now is/once was(due to the failure of over saturation and not making real garments for real people.)

If you read the auto biography of RL and the storyline of Filson and Woolrich they all took leads from A&F. So comparatively speaking the brand now sucks but what it once was, was an inspiration to the workwear and outdoors brands of today!!!!

Most of the girls at my school are preps so yeahh i like dem but theyre annoying or stupid as fuck. But its either them or the emos/thespian people and they freak me out. Its because no one in this thread knows what real preppy is. I think its cus most of these dudes have not been to schools like auburn,bama, ole miss, thats where you find that real preppy shit. Its just a matter of having class and half the bitches posted look like cheap hookers. preppy is wallo's, bean boots, vineyard vines, polo(not the big pony shit thats for *****s)brooks brothers, lil pulitzer that kind of shit. I know these types all too well considering my parents sent me to a nice ass private school because they didnt want me in baltimore city public schools, that was the worst experience ever I rolled a fucking camry while everyone else had benzes and shit. all the kids I went to high school with were "preppy" and all went to those southern instutions if they were dumb and bowdoin/hopkins/loyola/georgetown if they were intelligent.
